You have to use Windows NT or Windows 2000 as operating system on all WinCC cients and WinCC servers. To cross between operating systems is not approved.

When installing a WinCC server on a Windows NT server, please refer to the information in Entry ID 7503149.
It is not absolutely necessary to have WinCC installed. In this case you cannot read/write data from/to WinCC. But it is a requirement to install MS Excel 2000 / XP.
