RESPECT RESPONSIBILITY RESULTS
From the Superintendent’s Desk
What a great start to the school year. The pre-kindergarten, a new program this year, is up and running. These students are such a delightful addition to the school environment. Mrs. Klanecky is working with the six students in that group and it is just amazing how each has adjusted to going to school. In addition to the six pre-kindergarten students the school has seen eight new students enroll since the first week of school.
As the month of December approaches I would remind parents it signals the end of the first semester of the school year. I would ask that you take advantage of the Power School Stu-dent Information System to track your student(s) grades. This allows opportunity for you to offer encouragement and motivation to the student. The information from Power School can also generate topics of communication with your student as well as with the teacher if the need arises. Power School is just a great way to stay abreast of your student's academic endeavors before the end of the grading period and you see the grades for the first time on the report card. I encourage you to take advantage of this process so both the home and the school can work together to help your student have greater success in school.
December also brings the start of the winter activity season with many nights scheduled for activities. The December calendar is full of music programs, girls and boys basketball games, wrestling meets and the start of speech. Even in this busy time of year we must remind stu-dents that activities are a great opportunity to be involved in but are not an excuse to slack off in their academic efforts. Time management is essential. Students often need parental ad-vice in staying on top of their "game".
I would remind you that school is dismissed at 2:00 on December 22 for the start of Christmas Break and it will resume on January 4 at 8:00 with a regular school day. So as Christmas draws near, Teresa, Raif and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a joyous holi-day season. Remember in all the business and activities what the real reason for the season is and may your families be richly blessed.

What’s New at LCPS...
Preschool Preschool is exploring the different colors and temperatures of Fall. In class,
they're working on different types of patterns, counting, and writing their names.
And just started a unit about balls. We are learning about how they are made, if
they can roll, what they weigh, if they bounce, the different sizes there, etc. Explor-
ing through play is our favorite way to learn. -Ashley Klanecky
Family Reading/Math Night Family Reading & Math Night was Tuesday, November 15, at the Loup County
Elementary. Students K - 6 and their family members came and enjoyed an even-
ing of fun and learning! Thank you to everyone who came, it was a great time!
FFA The Loup County FFA has started their annual fruit sales! Everyone is off to a great start and everyone has a goal they want to reach. Fruit sales started in late
October and will end on November 18th. 8 members of the Loup County Chapter attended the District Edge Leadership Conference in Loup City on November 3rd. The students met and listened to 3 Nebraska State Officers and attended two hour
leadership programs. The whole FFA Chapter has been preparing hard for the LSE’s on December 14th in Sargent. They are working hard and are ready to achieve great things! -Emily
From the Art Room Educationquest instigated a day for seniors to sign up for the college of their choice. On October 11, 2016 Loup County seniors had a Sign up for College Day! The staff joined the fun by wearing clothing from their individual alumni. All five seniors involved have received one or more acceptance letters! Congratulations seniors! 7th and 8th Grade Art Students had a Michelangelo day. They painted upside down under the tables just like Michelangelo! The students thought that it was very difficult to do and messy! The students did a great job and we have some good Halloween master pieces.

MNAC Vocal Clinic
The Twin Loup SR High
choir members attended the
MNAC East Vocal Clinic in
Callaway on Monday, Oct.
24th. They joined a 75 mem-
ber choir made up of stu-
dents from Ansley, Arnold,
Anselmo-Merna, Brady,
Callaway and of course the
Sargent/Taylor Music Co-
op. Students spent the day
working under the direction
of Mr. Josh Hughes from
the Amherst Public
Schools. At 5:30 PM a con-
cert was presented for a
very nice crowd of friends
and families.
Songs done at the clinic this
year were: Kuimba!
(Come!) by Victor Johnson;
Song for the Unsung Hero,
by Pamela and Joseph
Martin; Gentle Annie by
Dennis Eliot; I Am A Small
Part of the World by Jay
Althhouse; Fields of Gold
by Sting (Girls song); My
Heart’s in the Highlands by
Robert Burns and Lon Ber-
ry; and Let There Be Peace
by Andy Beck.
Music Notes
The Twin Loup Co-op Band has been very busy the past few weeks. We have
entertained at football half-times for 5 games this year. It’s true that we are rotat-
ing the same songs each time, but there is a limit of what we can play with the
instrumentation that is available during the games. Hopefully we can work some
new songs into our arsenal as basketball season approaches. It was great of
Hunter Kraus to help us out during the Homecoming Pep Rally. Thank you!
Both the 7-12 band and the K-6 students spent a lot of time preparing songs for
the Veterans’ Day Program on November 11th. The band presented songs by two
famous American March Kings: Carl King and John Phillip Sousa. They kept eve-
ryone’s toes tapping as they played Torch of Liberty March and an arrangement
of Stars and Stripes Forever.
The Kindergarten, First and Second grade students presented their own song: A-
M-E-R-I-C-A, then all the elementary performed American Heart. The Third,
Fourth, Fifth and Sixth grades then finished the musical portion of the morning
with a rousing selection of songs representing the Armed Forces called Military
Medley. We hope everyone enjoyed hearing these songs as much as the kids
loved singing them.
Environmental Science Project
Each year students in environmental science are required to do a second quarter project that could possibly reduce the consumption of fossil fuels. This year’s class has three students: Braden, Brady, and Austin. They decided to work togeth-er on a project to see if a one cylinder four stroke gasoline engine could run suffi-ciently on just petroleum fumes. They used a gallon jug, a one inch diameter clear hose, half inch diameter acetylene hose, a number six size rubber cork, duck tape, hot glue and very minimal petrol. This mechanism works by connecting the hose to the top of the bottle and running it directly into the intake. Also in the bottle the inch diameter hose runs to the bottom with holes drilled in plug to make the petrol bubble as the intake pulls air and fuel. The direct cause of this function is for the piston to compress and ignite just the fumes instead of liquid petroleum. This could reduce fossil fuel consumption by using just the fumes and less liquid fuel. When a motor runs on just the fumes, it is more efficient because it takes very little gas to make a lot of fumes. The students learned many things while doing this project. Brady learned “how the piston can ignite just by fumes and not just the liquid fuel.” Braden learned “that it takes a lot more air than fuel to ignite inside the cylinder so the tube size for the intake of fresh air needed to be substantially big-ger than the output tube.” Austin learned “how to use a lot of duck tape.” -Braden, Brady, & Austin

Wolves are State Bound The Twin Loup Wolves are STATE BOUND! After a nail biting finish against Blue
Hill and a great defensive showing against Sandhills/Thedford our boys are head-
ed to Memorial Stadium! For the first time in Twin Loup history we are sending a
team to the State Championship. Twin Loup has had a major history making sea-
son so far with an undefeated season at 12-0 and qualifying for state. Lets cheer
on the Wolves in Memorial Stadium during the Championship game against the
Falls City Sacred Heart Irish. Go Wolves! -Whitney
Girls Basketball Starts The Twin Loup Lady Wolves are ready to start the 2016-17 Basketball season.
The Lady Wolves will have an early focus on shooting, ball handling, and condi-
tioning this season while Coach Kozeal and the Wolves finish up their football
season in Lincoln. Coach Allen thinks that our keys to success will be the large
amount of returning starters and letter winners on our team. The team has hopes
for a winning record this season, as well as a good showing in districts and possi-
bly becoming a state qualifying team. The Twin Loup Lady Wolves will hit the
hardwood December 2nd, in Callaway, hope to see everyone there! -Whitney
Volleyball wraps up...
For Twin Loup Lady Wolves volleyball sub districts we played Ewing in Ord. Our girls came out on fire winning the first two sets. The third set was close, but sadly they couldn’t pull through. During the fourth set it started out close. We got the
lead and came out on top to advance to the second round. The second game of the night was against St. Mary’s where our girls played hard and tough but unfor-tunately came out with a loss ending there season. We want to thank everyone for
their support this season! GO WOLVES! -Hailey
Junior High Sports
JH Boys Wrestling Junior High wrestling has started and the boys are excited for the season. Their first meet was held at Burwell on
November 10th. Weston had one win and two losses. Dean had 2 wins and no losses. Keegan had one win and
two losses. They will be competing again in Mullen on Friday November 18th. Good luck boys! -Emily
JH Girls Basketball
For girls JH basketball this year they
have about 16 girls out, 6 from Taylor and 10 from Sargent. The girls started practices about a week ago. They
don’t have their first game till January so they have a little more than a month to learn all their plays and work on
fundamentals. –Hailey
