These are the proposed new offices for JG Sullivan, a marketing company in River North. We worked together and went through pricing. The project was put on hold. We can handle any commerical office requirements and have many resources to find you a great deal on construction.

The following is a couple of schemes for a small condo in the Mies van der Rohe Building on Fullerton at Lincoln Park. Generally, people live in these units only for a few years and apartment can be thought of as a empty container that is a temporary home. The furnishings and storage in the apartment can be thought that of as packing cases that can easily be moved to and fit in to the next residence. So all of the details are informed by this as is the fact these wardrobes or packing cases do not look attached to anything and are freestanding and floating in space rather than attached to the ceiling or wall. This also influences the materials palate, etc..

Here is the a beginning sketch (right) and a sample of the custom floor arranged in a running bond pattern like brick using the building’s module for size (below):

This is another project in progress; this addition takes a small boxy Cape Cod and opens it bringing a family together, allowing in daylight and creating an indoor/outdoor space with a new patio.

6William Huchting, Licensed Architect 312-493-6775 [email protected]

Page 7: William Huchting and makeArchitecture Projects

The next project is for a woman who wanted a proper dining room so she should could have a dinner party for twelve and make it a wonderful place to have company. We gutted the house, removed the asbestos shingles, reskinned it in cedar, replaced all of the windows, enlarged the living room with a fireplace and added a wrap-around porch. Plans before (left, bottom) and after, with the addition (right, bottom).

The is a house purchased by the client’s father in 1944. The external envelope had deteriorated greatly and the front porch had collapsed. The client wanted to keep the vintage charm of his fathers house make it a new home for his family.

We designed a new porch with highly articulated masonry that uses a new cedar exterior, a new paint scheme, a new kitchen-dining room and an extension out the back that allowed us to create a master bedroom suite on the second floor,

This a house in Scotland that is curved to create a outdoor space that is warmed by the sun and protected from the north wind that comes over the Highlands.

Here’s an apartment I spent 14 months in charge of while working at a firm downtown. We designed all of the mill work and much of the furniture. The smaller project I showed you previously will have the same level of finishes and better art!

This is a 200 000 sf sustainable office building I worked on for 12 months. We were a team of five and we used louvers and a narrow footprint (60 feet) to naturally light the space. We specified operable lights and a computer controlled exhaust at the top of the atrium skylight to draw cool California air through the workspaces into the public space and up and out the building.
