2. Wildlife offense cases –Main wildlife offense cases registered in wildlife wing are given

below –

a) Black buck hunting case Kakani (Bagaron ki Dhani)

Jodhpur –

FIR Number - 93/26 dated 2/10/1998

Place of incident - Bagaron ki Dhani (Kakani)

Offenders - Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre,

Neelam, Tabbu, Dinesh Gavre, Dushyant Singh.

Court case no. – 352/2000 MJM Court Jodhpur

66/2011 CJM Court Jodhpur

CJM Court convicted vide order dated 5/04/2018

Punishment- Salman Khan convicted – 5 years

imprisonment and fine Rs. 10,000.

Salaman Khan filled SB criminal appeal in 2018 against

order 5/04/2018.

Department filled a leave to appeal 311/18 for convicting

the remaining offenders.

Last date of hearing was on 16/09/2019.

b) Chinkara hunting case Ghoda farm (Mathaniya) Jodhpur –

FIR Number – 163 dated 11/10/1998 (by Police department)

Place of incident - Ghoda farm (Mathaniya)

Date of incident – 28/09/1998

Offenders – Salman Khan, Dushyant Singh, Pratap Singh, Tula ji Aangre,

Gordhan Singh

Court case no. – 206/1999 CJM Court Jodhpur

CJM Court order – 10/04/2006 convicting offenders as

(i) Salman Khan- Imprisonment 5 year and fine of 25,000 Rs.

On nonpayment of fine additional Imprisonment of three months.

(ii) Gordhan Singh- Imprisonment 1 year and fine of 5,000 Rs.

On nonpayment of fine additional Imprisonment of three months.

Deciding criminal petition 905/2007 on 25/07/2016 hon.ble High Court

acquitted the Salman Khan and others of the charges on

Police department appearing in Supreme Court

C) Chinkara hunting case Bhavad Village (Mathaniya)- Jodhpur

FIR Number – 162 dated 11/10/1998 (by Police department)

Place of incident – Bhavad Village (Mathaniya)

Date of incident – 26/09/1998

Offenders – Salman Khan, Satish Shah, Yashpal, Mahendra Bhati, Raju

Court case no. – 207/1999 CJM Court Jodhpur

CJM Court order – 17/02/2006 convicting offenders as

(i) Salman Khan- Imprisonment of 1 year and fine of 5,000 Rs.

Other accused were acquitted from charges.

Salaman Khan filled criminal petition in High Court Jodhpur

Deciding criminal petition 53/2012 on 25/07/2016 hon.ble High Court acquitted

Salman Khan from the charged against him.

Police department has filled a SLP in Supreme Court.

D) Arms Act case registered in police station Luni – Jodhpur

Arms recovered in kakani case, licensed was expired hence this case was registered in PS

Luni under section 3/27 Arms Act . Case No. 68/2011 hon.ble CJM Court acquitted

Salman Khan on 18/01/2017.

E) Case against Dr. Nepaliya – for delayed and nontechnical postmortem report

The Dr. Nepaliya died and case file was closed.

3. Other Important Offence Cases –a) Hunting of blue bull by Airforce officials using helicopter

(Village Satlana, Jodhpur)

b) Hunting of wild animals by Jogis in Bhinyad village of

Barmer

c) Seizer of 702 wildlife skins in Kosana village of Barmer

d) Hunting of panther in Jajival village of Jodhpur

e) Wolf hunting by Jogis in Osian village of Jodhpur

4. Different Hunting Tools & Techniques Used By

OffendersGun, stick/stone, knife, ropes, different type of traps, rope &

bolt, Kaatar, pebble & bowl, foxlight, poisoning (in grains,

water, meat etc.), tota blast, chasing the animal, by way of

animal calls, smoking in burrows, blocking the burrows,

hides, using trained dogs & eagles, using electric current in

fencing wire etc.

5. Social Tradition/Customs/Myths And Illicit

Hunting–a) Men of Jogi community of desert region gives a Jackal during

the delivery of his wife as a status of symbol

b) Using of Sanda (spiny tailed lizard) oil for arthritis and other

physical health treatments

c) Eating Tilor’s (Houbara bustard) meat for Kamos-utejna

d) Hunting of wild animals by Garasiya tribe on occasion of

Akshay tritiya called as EDA.

e) In old days the Kings and Jagirdars used to hunt for their status

of skillness/mastery.
