WILDFIRE UPDATE FOR TAOS CANYON

As we all know, the winter of 2017/18 consisted of 2-3 small storms that have not helped with moisture levels

in our area. The maps below from the National Weather Service paint a worrisome picture for the

spring/summer wildfire season.

Your Taos Canyon and Valle Escondido Firewise Committees, as well as your Rio Fernando Fire

Department Volunteers, ask that you begin to prepare for this early wildfire season. Work on defensible space around your house, prepare evacuation plans/kits, and

no burning unless you have a burn permit and have contacted the Fire Department at rffd@rffd.org .
