Happy Fall!
Palestine ISD is holding the first Flex Day of the school year today to provide an opportunity for students to receive additional academic assistance and for teachers to participate in professional
development.
Congratulations to the PHS Boys’ Cross Country Team on finishing 6th place of the 190 4A schools at the state meet on November 4th. The team has worked hard all season to beat their last season’s state ranking of 32nd. The team expects to improve on this year’s 6th place finish at the state meet in
2018.
The Wildcat Football Team hopes to clinch a playoff spot tonight with a win over the Henderson Lions. The game will be played at Henderson and kickoff
is at 7:30 pm. Go Wildcats!
The district will be closed for the Thanksgiving holidays during the week of Monday, November 20th through Friday, November 24th. Classes will
resume on Monday, November 27th.
Thank you to the PHS Spanish Club
for helping keep Palestine clean!
This past Saturday, 20 PHS choir students competed in Hender-son for the All Region Honor Choir, and 8 of students advanced! These students, along with 10 Junior High students who placed in the Middle School All Region Choir, will perform this coming

Welcome back, Wildcat fans! We are excited to kick off the new school year with a full athletic calendar. Our student
athletes have worked hard in preparation for the new season. Cross Country is ready for their first meet in Union
Grove on Saturday, Volleyball is in full swing with the varsity team competing in the Groesbeck tournament today and
tomorrow, Team Tennis hosted their first home match of the season on Thursday, and varsity football will kick off
their season on September 1st versus Mabank. We encourage our fans to come out and support all our fall sports.
As a reminder, please don’t forget Meet the Wildcats, Monday, August 28th, 7:00 p.m., Wildcat Gym! We look forward
to introducing our football, cross country, fall tennis, and volleyball teams, as well as student trainers, band
members, cheerleaders and Kik Kats. Representatives from the PISD Athletic Booster Club will be available, also, to
answer any questions you may have about memberships and volunteer opportunities.
For up to date information, schedules, and upcoming events, please visit the Athletic webpage at

In Volleyball action:
The Ladycats played Pittsburg at home last Friday night in their first home game of the season. JVB lost a tough
match in 3 ( 25-13, 18-25, 11-15). JVA defeated Pittsburg (25-22, 22-25, 25-23)! The Varsity girls lost in three (20-25, 17-
25, 17-25). Faith Newman picked up 22 digs. McKenzie King had 22 assists. Destiny Mathews had 10 kills while Shayla
Arthur added 8 kills. The Ladycats will resume play in the Eustace tournament playing at 9 am vs. Mabank in the
Championship bracket.
The Ladycats hosted Alba-Golden Tuesday night. The JVB team fought hard in a 3 game match, but came up short (25
-20, 21-25, 23-25). Our JVA team won in exciting fashion coming from behind in the 3rd set to win (15-25, 25-16, 25-20)!
Our varsity girls showed heart and fight in their 5 game match with Alba-Golden. We came up short, but very proud of
the effort the girls gave (26-24, 15-25, 25-23, 22-25, 12-15). We will be playing in the Groesbeck tournament this Friday
and Saturday!
Go Wildcats Athletic Director: Robby Clark
Palestine Athletics Football: This past Friday the Wildcat Varsity Football Team took on the defending state champs and
currently ranked #1 Carthage Bulldogs. The Wildcats played a hard, gritty game and gave
Carthage a very tough ball game. Despite losing 48-31, the Wildcats played very well and
go into the last regular season game this Friday against Henderson still looking to clinch
a playoff spot. Sophomore, Jeremiah Davis rushed for 189 yards against a tough Carthage
defense, while Senior Roderick Deyon played an outstanding game defensively, leading all
tacklers with 13 tackles. The Wildcats will look to clinch a play-off spot this week with a win
over Henderson. Make plans to come to Henderson and cheer on the Wildcats tonight
(November 10th) at 7:30pm. Go Wildcats! Coach Morgan Robinson
Basketball: The Wildcat Basketball Team has been working hard to gear up for the start of our season. I am excited about this year because of the hard work that these guys have put in this off season. The team will scrimmage Bullard and Eustace at 10:00 am tomorrow morning (November 11th) at Bullard. Then next week the team will play Lindale next Friday, November 17th at Lindale. Coach JJ Johnson
Congrats to the team on the Best Cross Country Season in the school's history. We want to say thank you to everyone that has supported us all year and everyone who supported the team at the state meet! Coach John Absalom
Cross Country: Texas has 190 schools that participate in 4A Cross Country. Last year at this time the team was ranked 32nd in state for 4A Cross Country and this year we finished as 6th best team in the state of Texas for 4A Cross Country. Boys Cross Country had an amazing year and we are expecting to improve on our 6th place finish at the state meet next year. Our top runner at the state meet was Freshmen Luis Rangel with an 11th place finish out of 152 runners. Other varsity runners: Grant Attaway, Garrett Bowden, Christian Castillo, Christian Guzman, Michael Guzman, Daniel Sanchez, Jonathan Sanchez, and Francis Sis.
