Meet Sally Hoffman. Sally lives outside Seattle and was an engineer before she retired.

Q: At what age did you start sewing?

Before age 5. Really wanted to make doll clothes for Shirley Temple type dolls. Not baby dolls. One of the neighbor girls had that doll and her mother crocheted lots of clothes for it. I remember trying to get my grandmas treadle sewing machine to work even at that early age. I got a Singer hand crack toy sewing machine for Christmas and I still have it.

Q: What brought you to sewing?

I was born with the gene.

Q: What do you like most about sewing?

Getting clothes that fit in fabrics I like.

Q: What kinds of things do you sew most often?

I make clothes for myself or for grand nieces once in a while. A Moto Jacket made from turquoise denim is next on my list.
