Why did start this project?

Shortage of raw materials

Waste generation

A growing world population

Ecological disasters

The circular economy

All our products are suitable for re-use in the circular economy

20% is about the products, 80% about the process

Fair trade and partnerships

Take responsibility for our planet, the people and the materials we use

What do we do?

We design 100% recyclable fabrics

We design supply chains

We use new business models: performance based and

service contracts

We develop a Circular Content Management System to

control the chain

Objectives of the project

INDUSTRIALIZE: To industrialize the product and the production processes.

CLOSED LOOP (CIRCULAR ECONOMY): To close the first worldwide cradle to cradle chain of sustainable textiles.

PILOT: To carry out pilots to support market uptake and introducing a closed up cycle chain.

DEMONSTRATE: To demonstrate the environmental and economic impacts (Eco-Innovation) achieved compared to the conventional process.

PROMOTE: To promote market application of the innovative business approach (= sales of the work wear).

Research and Development for Industrialization

Improve the material/product

Testing materials and styles

Different needs for materials

High visibility

Anti-static

Waterproof

Flame retardance

Different performances

Different markets – work wear, corporate wear, hospitality

Page 9: Why did start this project? - European Commissionec.europa.eu/environment/archives/ecoinnovation2015/1st... · 2016. 5. 30. · Life Cycle Analysis Environmental: Because the fabrics

We started up small pilot projects to test the materials, styles and the chain

Developing the business case

• Lease contracts

• Performance based service

• Management tools to save hidden costs in the supply

chain

• Business model for recycling

Life Cycle Analysis

Environmental: Because the fabrics we use are recyclable, we generate no waste, produce 50% less water energy and 20% less CO2 than conventional work wear

Social: With all the toxicities related to water including inhalation, ingestion of produce, fish, and meat, and dermal contact with water and soil, the direct impact on humans is naturally also high for cotton, 18 kg 1,4 DB, whereas Infinity fabrics score 6 kg 1,4 DB

Costs to taxpayer: Recycling: 0,09 euros, 0,16 euros for incineration, 2,92 euros for landfill

Worldwide promotion

Delft University of Technology - Nuon Solar Team

Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2015 - October 18, 2015
