The Barn Owl

• White/ light brown with heart shape face

• Mates for life

• Lays 4-6 eggs every mating season

• This owl is also known as the Church Owl, Golden Owl, or Stone Owl

Two adult barn owls with six young can eat over 1,000 rodents during their three-month nesting period!

The Barred Owl

• Slightly large

• Mostly found in northern Michigan and Canada

• Light colored face with dark rings

• May also be known as the Striped Owl, Wood Owl, or Hoot Owl

The Eastern Screech Owl

• A slightly small breed of owl

• Rusty colored

• Found in the lower peninsula year-round

The Great Horned Owl

• A common owl in North America

• Distinctive feature is it’s ear tufts (“horns”)

• One of few owl species who can’t turn their heads 360o
