For all the reasons I considered applying to be a TMA Docent, none meant more to me than the opportunity to enhance the art education of our community through engaging the public in the museum’s collection. Art education is not for the elite, it is for everyone. I appreciate and am continually inspired by the Libbey’s vision in this regard. Through learning about and discussing art we open our minds to new perspectives. This capacity of understanding does not stay within the TMA walls, it travels with TMA visitors out into their communities. A community supportive and embracing of different perspectives builds creativity, critical thinking skills, respect for others, and an overall appreciation of differences. This is a community I want to be a part of and engaging the public with TMA art as a Docent is my contribution towards making the world a better place. It is not easy to measure the volume of scholarship, dedication, thoughtfulness that Docents give in support of the program and TMA – but it is easy to see the result. Kids, adults, Toledo-natives, and those simply passing through leave TMA enamored. Docents help them make a connection to art, to themselves, to each other that resonates deeply and remains for a lifetime. For me, there is no nobler endeavor.

I drew a picture of the mummy cases because I thought they were cool and because it told a story on it and I liked all of the pictures on them. I think it was cool that they had symbols for words in a picture.

I love art. Rock on.
Oh, with this wonderful art, I do not wish to part. With artists so many there’s truly a lot, but the paintings so beautiful we are thankful for a trip to the Art Museum
what a wonderful day.Paintings can express any tear or hooray. A-R-T M-U-S-E-U-M exactly what does that spell? The Art Museum in
which you reallyshouldn’t yell. Unfortunately my time is over, I really have to go.But as long as I live, to the Art Museum I will never say no.
The painting was pretty as a kitty. The art was happy in my heart.
The colors made me feel like a lover.
