WHO ARE YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE?The audience for Short Films are generically people that are passionate about film: For example independent filmmakers and companies who simply don't have the budget to fund and feature film production therefore meaning that the story line is very simple and straight forward sometimes leaving you puzzled making you think.

It is also fair to say the audience of modern short films are young as a majority: film students who take passion in their subject and look for entertainment and inspiration. Also young people who are looking for answers to something go for short films and film students who are passionate about their subject. just like me. Our target audience should not only be enjoying the video but also learning and absorbing the message sent to them. The message would be very clear and the target audience would most likely all relate to the video. As we deliberately chose a plot that is compatible with the audience due to the same age group. Short films as stated above are aimed at a young audience such as students, independent filmmakers etc. so by creating a video located in a college with students, would therefore be relatable to them as they either just graduated out of school, or are still studying. Meaning they would catch and digest the message quickly.

WHAT ARE THEY LOOKING FOR IN A SHORT FILM OF YOUR GENRE?

short films mirror the everyday life that we go through, or serious issues in society independent film makers use short films to send hidden messages and lessons without realising it. There are always a twist which makes it more interesting and intriguing just like the video called the black hole.

Our initial short film genre was a romance thriller video. Now after gathering with the group and taking time to think this through we noticed and realised that a thriller movie is normally very complicated and it is not possible to create a successful and engaging thriller romance video in only 5 minutes. So therefore after agreeing and double checking with the teacher we decided to change the genre to a drama, social realism movie with the same plot but with slight adjustments to suit the genre. Moreover it was a great change as it not only made the planning easier but it released a lot of stress and pressure due to the limited running time of only 5 minuets.
