WHO: Michael Pavlovsky of Pavlovsky Sculpture Studio LLC - Based in Fort Worth, Michael has been a professional sculptor for twenty-five years and his clients include municipalities, institutions and corporations as well as private individuals. Michael’s work is mostly created in cast or fabricated bronze, and several of these pieces are right here in Fort Worth. His sculpture has a strong design emphasis and is mainly contemporary; however, depending on the client's needs, the work can incorporate elements of the traditional as well. The size of the pieces has ranged from a 4-inch-tall portrait of a pet cat, up to two large bronze walls totaling 22 feet long by 13 feet tall, created for the lobby of the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee. Currently, Michael is working on a courtyard piece for the new Moncrief Cancer Institute on Magnolia Street in Fort Worth. WHAT: This presentation will introduce you to ten sculpture projects created for various institutional and municipal clients in the DFW Metroplex. You will gain insight about the inspiration for some of these works, and how they came into being. You will see the initial free-hand sketches that illustrate how the concepts for the works developed, as well as the maquettes, which serve as the 3D starting point of the full-scale sculpture. You will view the works in progress in the clay studio and also at the bronze foundry, including the mold making, metal casting, fabrication, and the on-site installation.
