   38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, "Teacher, we 

want to see a sign from You."

 

 

 

39 But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

 

 

 

 

41 The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and 

condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a 

greater than Jonah is here.

 42 The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends 

of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than 

Solomon is here.

 

 

 

 

43 "When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits 

more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also 

be with this wicked generation."

46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and 

brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, 

"Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak 

with You." 

48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, "Who is My mother and 

who are My brothers?"

49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For 

whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and 

mother."

1 Corinthians 1:21-2521 For since, in the wisdom of God, the 

world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks 

foolishness, 

24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and 

the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and 

the weakness of God is stronger than men.

in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 

21 There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good 

conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has 

gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers 

having been made subject to Him.

2 Peter 2:15-2215 They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking 

with a man's voice restrained the madness of the prophet. 17 These are 

wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the 

blackness of darkness forever.  

18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, 

the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. 19 While they 

promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into 

bondage. 

20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the 

knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would 

have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy 

commandment delivered to them. 

22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit," and, "a sow, having washed, 

to her wallowing in the mire."
