A day after being banned by the Catholic Diocese of Richmond Bishop Barry Knestout from perform- ing the sacraments and other duties while remain- ing priest of St. Joseph’s in Martinsville and St. Francis of Assisi in Rocky Mount, White said he re- ceived a “no trespass” warning from a law firm in Richmond on Thurs- day, essentially telling him if he were to go on either church property that he could be prosecuted from trespassing. Because visitors can’t en- ter rest homes because of the pandemic-control mea- sures, rest home staffs are helping them connect with their family members inside in a variety of other ways, including video-chats, see- ing each other through glass and a drive-by parade. At Stanelytown Health & Rehabilitation, staff mem- bers are making appoint- ments for family and friends to speak with residents over either FaceTime, which is video-chat on iPhones/ iPads, and Google Duo, a video-chat app that can be used for either Android or iPhones. You can make an appoint- ment for a resident to have a turn with an iPad or tablet . On Sunday, staff will deliv- er balloons, roses and cards to all female residents, Stan- leytown Administrator Ken- nedy Flynn said. Meanwhile, Stanleytown residents are making deco- rations and preparing for a drive-by parade that will be on Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m. The residents will be out- side, 6 feet apart from one another up and down the sidewalk, with signs and decorations. Their friends and families can drive by and greet them. The parade will be led by the Bassett Fire Department and Martinsville Police, Fly- nn said. The unraveling of Flynn’s guilty plea for lying to the FBI came after senior po- litical appointees in the Justice Department deter- mined lower-level pros- ecutors and agents erred egregiously in the course of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investiga- tion of Russian interfer- ence in the 2016 election.
