Security News White Bluff Security works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with an officer stationed at the front gate with another officer on patrol (Office # (254) 694-4471). Please monitor your driving speed. People are out walking, animals are abundant, and an increase of Deer will be on the move with cooler weather. Remember, speed is Radar Enforced. White Bluff is a secure and safe place to live, but the key to keeping it that way is with your help. Crime is very low and in most cases nonexistent, but it does happen. As our eyes and ears within the resort, we ask that if you see anything suspicious we ask that you call us immediately so we may be able to deal with it. We need everyone involved in keeping White Bluff safe and secure.

Just a reminder that any boats, trailers, or any other recreation vehicle on your property cannot stay there for more than 48 hours. White Bluff has two very fine and secure storage areas, Deer Creek and Cedar Ridge that you can rent if you need the space. Contact Yvonne at POA, 694-0366 to get a space for storage.

Don’t forget that property owners can purchase a toll tag sticker for $35 each with a lifetime replacement as long as you are a Property Owner. This is a great way to expedite your entrance into White Bluff.

We also want to remind all that when you have guests coming that are not on your permanent guest list to please let security know. You can call, email us at [email protected] or you can even bring us a list of who you are having. Please check to make sure your permanent guest list is updated with security.

Let’s all stay safe.

- David Sanders, Chief of Security

From the Golf ProFall is fast-approaching, and that means football, baseball playoffs, and (we thought they’d never get here) cooler temperatures. Fall is a favorite time of year for golfers, as the grass is still green, but the thermometer reads something less than three digits. If you have been stockpiling your property owner comp rounds, this is a perfect time for you to bring your friends to enjoy our courses with you.

The arrival of fall means that Thanksgiving and Christmas are not far behind. You will find a wide variety of apparel for men and women, not to mention balls, shoes, and everything else related specifically to golf. Typically, except for golf balls and caps, merchandise is different at each golf shop. So if you don’t find what you’re looking for at one shop, be sure to check the other one.

Let me encourage you to make a Tee Time as soon as you know your plans (property owners can make their Tee Times up to two weeks in advance), as the cooler temperatures will see the number of golfers increase. Of course, if you are interested in a series of lessons or just a “minor tune-up,” I am available to schedule that for you. A discount is available for you when booking a series of lessons.

- Steve Reband, PGA Professional

Superintendent’s NewsIt’s fall already! Summer just flew by. I hope everyone enjoyed the golf courses this summer. I know the maintenance staff worked extremely hard this year to ensure your enjoyment of the golf courses.

This summer was a bit of a challenge. Due to the lake flooding, we had to remove the transfer pumps at the lake. This forced us to ration the irrigation water on the fairways and rough, especially on the Old Course. The wet spring and early summer also resulted in increased disease and insect pressure.

The Old Course was aerated the week of August 22nd and the New Course will be aerated starting September 6th. Aeration will be conventional core aerification. We will make every effort to keep the disruption to a minimum. I would like to thank you in advance for your patience during this time.

Autumn is the time to apply pre-emergent herbicide to keep it weed free during the winter and early spring. We will be applying a pre-emergent in October to both golf courses. We will also be making a high potassium fertilizer application during this time to help the grass prepare for winter.

If you have any questions about what is happening on the golf course, please feel free to stop in and see me, or you can call at 694-0372.

- Danny Holt, CGCS, Golf Course Superintendent
