Principals Message
As we come to the close of the
2012-13 School Year, we have so
many events to look back upon andreflect on what a wonderful year it has
been. From the Fall Festival to the
Family Dinner and Art show, we
could not have done it without our
awesome volunteers, staff, andstudents! This is what makes Wekiva
a Koality school!
I know many people (staff, PTA, and
parents) are already planning for next
school year and I look forward toworking with everyone to keep thequality of our academic and arts
programs.
Fifth grade is off to middle school
and our staff knows they are ready to
change the world!Part of being a Wekiva KOALA is
students achieving goals! This
newsletter is dedicated to
achievement.

for purchase ONLINE ONLYfor the
2013-2014 School Year until May 31.

follow directions to complete order.

Common Core Conversations
To assist districts in providinginformation to the public and
answering questions from theirconstituents regarding Common Core,
the Florida Department of Education
is facilitating Core Conversations in
various districts throughout the state.
Seminole County Public Schools
will host a Core Conversation for the
community on Tuesday, July 16 at
6:30 p.m. in the board room at the
Educational Support Center. This willbe an opportunity for parents and
community members to ask questions
related to Common Core and theimplementation of the Common Core
State Standards.
Yearbook Recognition
This year we decided to have thecover of our yearbook designed by
one of our students. There were lots of
wonderful artwork submitted. Runners
up were Molly Kucharski, Laura
Fischer, Dylan Velez, and Anna
Frabizio. The winning artist wasBeverly Cancalosi.

Scholastics Banquet, Victoria Moltzan
was named to the First Team Scholar
Athletes. She was one of 35 girls
named in fifth grade. The criteria for

service. At school, Victoria has beenpart of the Critter Care club, Pre-K
Helpers, and Koala Music Kidz toname a few. We are very proud of our

Did You KnowChildren are in perpetual
motion and lack the skill to judge the
distance of a moving vehicle. This
summer, remind your child to stay outof the streets and to play in the yard.
Take them to a nearby park for a fun
and inexpensive treat. Have them play
in groups to keep them safe. And, ifthey are playing with an object that
accidently goes into the street, make
sure to remind them to look, left, right,
left before going after it. Have a Safe

Wekiva Office hours will be Monday
Thursday 8:00am 4:00 pm thru
August 2nd. Office will close daily for
