2. What we are going to talk about Wheres My Stuff? Where are my files stored? What applications can I access? How do I get to my applications? What portal solution was selected and why? 3. Who we are Leslie Smith, Dean of Technology & Distance Learning (CIO) Michael Greene, Web Solutions Specialist Michael Anthony, Information Security Officer 4. Whats a Portal? From Wikipedia, A web portal is a web site that brings information from diverse sources in a unified way. Examples of public web portals are AOL, Excite, Google, MSN, and Yahoo! 5. Why? 6. I use the portal to work remotely either at home or when attending VCCS workgroup meetings. I dont need the portal for SIS access but find it easier to do so, as it gives me access to not only the production system but testing environments. The only way to access AIS is by using the portal. I also use it to access files on my shared drive and the Richmond shared drives. Certain processes in SIS/AIS require access/files on these drives. Examples include MML+ student enrollment, grade evaluations, class schedule, Bookstore download, AIS/CARS reconciliations, etc. Also using the portal I have access to all my favorite IE home pages. Robert Whitney (Bob) System Analyst 7. Robert Whitney (Bob) System Analyst I find it extremely useful and could not honestly perform my job functions without it. Bob 8. Glenda Haynie Director of Research, Effectiveness, and Planning I'm using the portal and iRCC. It's wonderful. Yeah, Glenda 9. Caroline Stelter Human Resources Manager I really appreciate having an easy access intranet for our employees. I am very impressed with how uncomplicated it is to maintain and share documents, forms, etc. I believe the use of this portal will only grow and I anticipate it will be key in electronic work flow in the near future. What I have also noticed is I have never had an employee contact me to say they couldnt find the information I referred them to; its very user friendly for all. 10. Robert Griffin Academic Dean of the Glenns Campus I enjoy have a place to save and share files that I need that are accessible across multiple devices and from various locations. My administrative assistant and evening coordinator is able to work with me on projects. It is great to have a place for committees and meetings. I am learning and have a lot to learnbut it is a helpful tool for organizing and managing my office operations. 11. How? 12. What? 13. Next? 14. ?
