WHY ORGANIC?
AT KINGBIRD FARM
WE BELIEVE ALL
PLANTS SHOULD BE
PRODUCED IN A
HEALTHY, SUSTAIN-
ABLE WAY.
EVEN IF WE DON’T
GENERALLY EAT
HOUSEPLANTS,
THEY SHOULD ALSO
BE RAISED WITH-
OUT CHEMICALS
AND SYNTHETIC
FERTILIZERS.
OUR PLANTS ARE BEAUTIFUL
NATURALLY!
WE PROMISE:
COMPOST-BASED POTTING MIX
PROPAGATED AND GROWN AT OUR
FARM NEAR ITHACA
RECYCLED AND REUSED POTS
NO HERBICIDES, NEONICOTINOIDS
OR OTHER HARMFUL PESTICIDES
NO SYNTHETIC GROWTH REGULA-
TORS
Succulent Care
Water: Succulents are water-wise by nature, but
that doesn’t mean they don’t need a good drink
now and then. Most succulents should be wa-
tered about once a week. Some may need a drink
more often if the plant is in a very small pot or
placed in a particularly warm location. Succu-
lents, like any other plant, will not survive on a
zero-water regimen.
Sun: Most of the plants we sell will be happy in
your sunniest windowsill (south- or west-facing).
Unless you have a greenhouse, you will be hard-
pressed to give them too much sun. We sell
some houseplants (Hoya, Philodendron and spider
plants, to name a few) that will also thrive in in-
direct light. None of our plants will survive in a
closet.
Fertilizer: During the growing season (usually
summer) you can feed succulents a dilute meal
about once a month. A balanced fertilizer that
has roughly equal proportions of nitrogen, phos-
phorous and potassium will work (we use a di-
lute Neptune’s Harvest Fish Emulsion). Do not
over-fertilize succulents – they will grow too
quickly, which leads to weak, pallid plants.
