Incoming cables for telephone, data, television, etc. are connected at the distribution centre, and patch leads are used to route the incoming signals to individual outlets around the home.

The distribution cabinet looks similar to a telephone exchange, and every outlet in each room has a corresponding marking outlet on the patch panel.

using a patch cable, the room outlet is connected with either the TV, telephone or data module, depending on your intended use. The outlet has now been defined.

If you want to alter the function of a TV outlet in a room to enable a computer to be used, simply disconnect the cable from the TV module and insert it into the module marked ‘data’. The outlet is now reconfigured for computer use.

Think ahead. It is impossible to predict today what requirements a home network will have to meet in five years’ time. There are many experts but they don’t always agree. one thing is certain – electronic communication is increasing to an extent that we can scarcely imagine.

Certification

When a LexCom Home® Network installation is completed it should be tested to check that all connections have been correctly made and that they meet the requirements for the installation.

PDL will certify LexCom Home® Network installations that have been tested and have had the results submitted to us. This certification provides an assurance to the homeowner that the completed installation satisfies the requirements and relevant standards for a LexCom Home® Network system.

Warranty

Together with the certification of LexCom Home®

Network systems, PDL provides a warranty ensuring the high level performance.

A 15 year warranty applies for the LexCom Home®

Network fixed installation components, comprising of the distribution cabinet, installation cables, connection jacks and wall-mounted outlets, and the active modules and components are covered by a 2 year manufacturers warranty.

Warranty & SupportSupport

There is a big difference between installing highspeed data networks and conventional electrical and telecommunication cabling.

Performance will be reduced if the installation work is not done properly. Therefore it is important for installers to have sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge about networks.

Training

PDL provides comprehensive training to consultants and installers to ensure that LexCom Home® Network’s are correctly designed and professionally installed.

Installers who attend the PDL LexCom Home® Network training courses have prior knowledge and experience in working with networks, and are licensed to install such networks.

only after meeting these conditions and successfully completing a training course will an installer become “Authorised to Install” LexCom Home® Network systems.
