When The US Fell In Love With India!
Megan and Nikhil had studied together in the US and what had started off as a wonderful friendship
was eventually going to turn into a love story that their friends and family would talk for the years to
come. Megan had come to India a few times with Nikhil and each time she came, she fell a little more in
love with the country, so when Nikhil proposed marriage, they both knew that they wanted that typical
‘big fat Indian wedding’!
While Nikhil and his family were busy making preparations for the wedding, Megan had mainly one
thing on her mind – a stunning Indian designer lehenga! She knew that Nikhil loved blue and she knew
that she wanted a lehenga that would incorporate blue with her own favourite colour green. She was
also aware that finding that perfect lehenga in the US would be a tough task and going to India each
time would be tougher.
That was when Nikhil’s sister, Naina, told Megan about online stores, which would not only give her the
kind of choice she was looking for, but also the option to have her wedding outfit custom made. On one
such website, Megan found not only the kind of designs she had envisioned but also an array of fabrics
that she didn’t even know existed! Now Megan was confident that she would find her perfect Indian
bridal lehenga and she knew that it would be exactly what she had envisioned.
Luckily for her, the website she chose had an entire team of designers, who with her measurements
were able to design an outfit that was soon to take everyone’s breath away. Megan chose an
aquamarine colour for her Indian partywear lehenga and she went with silver zardozi work that
adorned her silk and chiffon layered skirt. Wanting to embrace the modern, while staying in touch with
the traditional, she chose a long top, which fitted perfectly under the bust and then flowed gracefully
with cutaway net layers. And what was truly great was that a week before her wedding, the entire outfit
was shipped to her and the fit was almost too good to be true!
Today, when Megan looks at her wedding pictures, she feels grateful that she chose to buy an Indian
designer lehenga from India, rather than pick out from the few options that she would have found at
the Indian stores in the US!
