2019 BISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL
HELP BUILD A CIVILIZATION OF LOVE
By now you have received a letter from Bishop Checchio inviting your participa-
tion in the 2019 Bishop’s Annual Appeal. The diocesan ministries supported by
the Appeal directly impact many of the parishioners her in St. Andrew Church.
Your gift provides formation opportunities for our catechists, youth and young
adults. Among other important ministries, your sacrificial gift supports our re-
newed efforts in Evangelization & Communication.

If you have yet to make your pledge to this year’s Bishop’s Annual Appeal, you
will have the opportunity to do so next weekend, March 16/17, which has been
designated as Bishop’s Annual Appeal InPew Weekend. Please prayerfully
consider a gift to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal to help our parish reach its goal. If
we can exceed our goal, 50% of the amount collected over goal will be returned
to us in the form of a parish rebate. Just as important as our financial goal is our
goal of reaching 100% participation. Every gift, no matter the size, is important
and greatly appreciated. Thank you.

To date, the Development Office has received pledges totaling $14,972.00 and
payments totaling $13,130.75 from 98 parishioners. This represents 36.5% of
your $41,000.00 goal. Thank you for your efforts.

Dear Parishioners,
In the Gospel, for this first Sun-
day of Lent, Jesus is led into the
wilderness. When God prepares
us for a mission we are oen
tested. For St. Paul, aer his
Bap"sm, spent 7 years in the
Arabian desert. Many people to-
day find themselves in a wilderness of loneliness, addic"ons, and des-
pera"on. It is the "me when God shapes us in the virtues of humility
and trust. We learn to depend on God and not upon ourselves. We
learn how easily we are tempted when tempta"ons come along and we
twist the word of God to fit our own selfish desires. The devil always
comes to us as a “friend”, but one that cannot be trusted. What he
offers is “fool’s gold”, it is worth nothing but we think that it is real
gold, and we could find ourselves panning for it in the superficiali"es of
life. Lent calls us to go deeper, “for where our true treasure lies, there
our heart will be” Mt 6:21. Peace, Fr. David
