The Wheel of Life

Finding The Right Balance For You When life is so busy, and you try to focus on many things at once, it’s all too easy to find yourself off balance, out of sorts, and not paying enough attention to the important things in your life. This can eventually lead to intense overwhelm, lack of clarity about your future, frustration and stress. If you are feeling like this, its time to take a “helicopter view” of your life so that you get an overview of what’s most important to you and bring things back into balance. The Wheel Of Life exercise helps you consider each area of your life in turn and helps you assess what’s off balance and identify the areas that need more attention. It will give you a much clearer visual representation of how your life is now so that you can make decisions that will move you forward.

So where are you now? Step 1 – Label each section Using the wheel below, label each segment with an area of your life. You can select from the labels below or, if there is a more specific area of your life you would like to examine, just substitute a category. General category examples include:

Step 2 – Score the segments Assign a number from 1 to 10, next to each life area. Write 1 if you are unsatisfied in this area and up to 10 if you are totally satisfied. Look at your scores. Which 3 areas of your life would you most like to focus on more closely? (these are generally the ones with the lowest scores) The areas of my life I would most like to move forward are: 1 2 3 Step 3 - Moving forward How would you feel if you could significantly move forward in your 3 chosen life areas? What difference would it make to you and your life if you could make significant changes in these areas?
