Heard Any “Good News” Lately?

▣ When was the last time you heard some “good news”?

▣ We all like to hear good news don’t we? We need more good news!

▣ The “gospel” is good news! We use this word “gospel” a lot, but do we know what it means?

▣ To “preach” (Gr. euangelizo) means to “proclaim good news or glad tidings”

▣ “Gospel” (Gr. euangelion) means “good news” or “good tidings”

▣ The “evangelist” (Gr. euangelistees) proclaims “good news” (Acts 21:8; Eph. 4:11; 2 Tim. 4:5)

What’s So Good About It?

It is a “good” gift from heaven (Jas. 1:17)

▣ Our English word “gospel” was originally from the Anglo-Saxon “God-spell,” meaning “God’s story”.

▣ It is the “gospel of God” (Rom.1:1; 15:16; 2 Cor.11:7; 1 Thess.2:8-9).

What’s So Good About It?

It is a “good” gift from heaven (Jas. 1:17)

▣ It is the “gospel of Christ” (Rom. 1:9; 15:19; 2 Cor.2:12; 9:13; 10:14; Gal.1:6-7,11-12; Phil.1:27; 1 Thess.3:2; 2 Thess.1:8).

What’s So Good About It?

It is a “good” gift from heaven (Jas. 1:17)

▣ It is the gospel that was preached “by the Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven” (1 Pet.1:12).

▣ God designed the gospel, and He will not give us anything that is not good for us.

What’s So Good About It?

It makes us a “good” person around others

▣It provides a way to walk uprightly (Gal. 2:14).

▣It offers a manner of life that is worthy (Phil. 1:27).

Want Some “Good News”?

▣ Will you repent, believe, and obey the gospel (Ac.14:15; 15:7; Rom. 10:16)?

▣ Will you live a daily life of sacrifice for the gospel (Mk. 8:34-35; 10:29)?

▣ Will you not be ashamed of the gospel (Rom. 1:16)?
