From the PresidentWelcome to the Winter edition of the “What’s On” magazine.With the colder weather arriving it is a great time to get together with family and friends to enjoy some of the sensational meal specials and entertainment that is on offer at either of our two great Clubs.

I encourage you to thoroughly peruse the contents of this magazine for the range of top class entertainment, great value meals including the lunchtime

$5.50 Fish ‘n’ Chip special available at both Clubs plus lots more.

Coming shows include the great Lee Kenaghan with his brand new show, legendary rocker Lonnie Lee and his tribute to early Elvis, plus the welcome return of the very popular Eagels Band in September should be another sell-out. Exciting news for the Sporties too as they present 2 of Australia’s finest country stars - Dianna Corcoran & Aleyce Simmonds in concert together on Sunday 15th September.

I am very proud to advise the Club’s financial performance for the 10 month period ended 30 April 2013 was a net profit of $145,132.This is a terrific result, up $359,375 on last year’s comparative net loss of $212,243. This is particularly pleasing knowing that the Clubs have absorbed the financial impact of the Carbon Tax of $88,173 representing only light and power costs.

Board and Management’s principle focus is to continue revenue generation and at the same time containment of employment and operating costs. The Club’s financial position is considered sound returning positive cash flows and accumulated cash reserves of $1,214,157 as at 30 April 2013.

The Board are in the final stages of considering proceeding with the vitally important capital building works at Club Forster. If approved this will mean the relocation of the Brasserie on Strand to the ground floor and will also include a new café, bar and lounge. It is anticipated that this Clubhouse work will be completed by late November 2013. Management will provide further detailed communication on this matter in coming months.

Members, don’t forget that you do have to redeem all your Dolphin Reward Loyalty bonus points before the 30th June, 2013. You may like to redeem your points on a range of things like meat packs, chocolate nuts, enjoy a tasty meal in either of the club’s brassieres or even a nice bottle of white or red wine by contacting our friendly reception staff.

It is with great sadness that Errol Smythe passed away on Monday 19th March, 2013. Errol’s contribution to NSW Clubs including ours was significant, being a life member of Greta Workers Club, Maitland Junior Rugby League Football Club and Club Forster and Sporties Tuncurry. A champion fellow who will be sadly missed. On behalf of the Board, Management and staff I extend our sincere sympathies to Errol’s family.

I would like to conclude by thanking you, the members, for your loyalty and support of our two great clubs and I look forward to seeing you very soon during your next visit to Club Forster and Sporties Tuncurry.
