Welcome to the Summer edition of the “What’s On” magazine. The arrival of daylight saving, warmer weather and the approaching festive season means a time of fantastic ham, turkey and toy raffles at both Club sites plus entertainment for the whole family during the school holidays
including free family movies, Kid's Bingo, Under 18 Dances and of course our free family fun day - Australia Day 2014.
Also a terrific array of live entertainment is in store including tributes to Elton John & Billy Joel, Roy Orbison & Del Shannon, a great 60's Show, the return of the very popular IWA Wrestling, the very funny Jimeoin, the world renowned Searchers, Brian Cadd & Glenn Shorrock, and the one and only Jessica Mauboy In Concert!
The most exciting news is the soon to be opened Clubhouse improvement works prior to Christmas at Forster. To be known as '242ate Café Bar & Grill', the new area will provide members with a fresh, smart, modern contemporary and comfortable café, bar, lounge and toilet facilities with a central and convenient location. This will be complemented by a menu emphasis on Italian, fresh seafood and quality meat with a casual dining atmosphere.
I am very pleased to report that the builders (Club Projects Newcastle) and local tradesmen are on budget and on time and are to be congratulated.
I am pleased to report that on Thursday 14th November, 2013 the Combined Inter Sports Club Social was held with around 300 members attending a thoroughly enjoyable night. Nominations were received from 28 members across 15 Inter Sports Clubs. The major sporting award recipients were Rhiannon McBlane (Sporties Tennis Club) for Junior Sports Person of the Year, Kay Griffiths (Tuncurry-Forster Sports Women’s Bowling Club) Club Person of the Year, and Zone 6 Number 1 Pennant Team (Sporties Men’s Bowling Club) were recognised as the winner of the prestigious Sports Person of the Year Award. Congratulations to all nominees and most worthy winners.
Don’t forget your membership fees are now due and if you renew before the 31st December 2013, two members have a chance to win $500 each in our early bird draw.

"Yin dee ton rab" means "Welcome" in Thai - and a huge welcome plus the very best of authentic Thai cuisine is exactly what you can expect at Club Forster's brand new and exciting dining experience - 'Kenny's THAI Kitchen'.
Somkiat Vannasiripong (known as Kenny) was born in Bangkok, Thailand, and gained his great Thai cooking skills and expertise through working in his family's restaurant. At 26 years of age, Kenny headed to Australia (an adopted country that he holds with great passion) and began work here in several restaurants located in North Sydney & Surry Hills.
From there he ventured into his own restaurant called 'Rum Thai' in Bondi Junction.
After about 6 years he travelled to what we call 'paradise' - the beautiful Great Lakes, fell in love with the area, and where he now calls home.
Kenny has become a very well-known personality and much loved loved chef in the area, and you may even see Kenny around town with his two georgeous Maltese/Shitzu cross puppies whom he loves to parade with great pride.
Club Forster welcomes Head Chef Kenny and his team and look forward to many years of successful patronrage from a very enthusiastic population!
