Maintaining revision-managed structureaccuracy during file modification (“Replacewith selected revision” on modified CATPartdocuments)ENOVIA SmarTeam enables users to unloadoutdated files during file modification, as well aspropagating the change to the entire CATIAstructure, thus maintaining data accuracy, andmaking it available to other concurrent users,ENOVIA SmarTeam revision managementmechanism synchronizes the vault with the userwork area, and maintains CATIA structureaccuracy.

The CATIA structure remains updated as usersunload outdated documents, and uploadselected document revisions even during filemodification, using the “Replace with SelectedRevision” command. Another example is whenchecking out a parent assembly, which needs to propagate to its hierarchical dependencies:Outdated revisions of the assembly componentswill be unloaded and replaced by updated ones.

Drawing multi-sheet preview support The embedded 3D DS PLM viewer enablesCATIA users to view all drawing sheets, rather than just the active sheet level.

Inserting a component in a Project BrowsermodeUsers can now easily insert a component bybrowsing the project hierarchy, and selectingthe appropriate document - the same as is donefor “open” or “replace” component command.The administrator can easily define the “insertcomponent” options, e.g from a SMARTEAMsearch, or any other way. In this manner,companies can enforce best practice use of ENOVIA SmarTeam, offering the preferred workmethod.

PerformanceOptimized opening of large assemblies & catalog browsingSMARTEAM now optimizes CATIA filetransfer between the vault and the user’swork area, and extracts only the necessaryfiles from the vault, while maintaining alllinks consistency. In this manner, SMARTEAM eliminates redundant files inthe work area and provides faster uploadtime.

Remote database with local vault(pseudo WAN) In V5R17, ENOVIA SmarTeam providesimproved response time performance fordatabase requests in multiple site scenarios, where a local site, which is not on the same network as the centralSMARTEAM database is sending requeststo the database. In this configuration,performance improvement is dependant onthe latency of the network in some systemconfigurations, customers can save up to50% time.

Integration in CATIA KnowledgeProgramming LanguageBy integrating to CATIA programming language,SMARTEAM identifies and adheres to rules thatare set in CATIA, for example while insertingappropriate components from SMARTEAM toCATIA.

In the context of CATIA Knowledge Advisor(KWA) product, when defining reactions to anevent, the SMARTEAM – CATIA Integrationenables users to perform dedicatedSMARTEAM related actions, such as “Insert & Replace” component by ones stored in SMARTEAM.

Report generation and print capabilityUsers can generate reports of thereconciliation session in order to view, forexample, the reconciled documents, and therules that were applied. The report layoutcan be customized by defining an XSL(eXtensible Stylesheet Language) file. Thereport is displayed in an html viewer format,and is printable.

Document ViewA new tab called VPDM View displays a Document tree similar to the one shown inCATIA View but representing the structurestored in the SMARTEAM database. The VPDM View displays a Document treebased on the expanded identified rootDocument. The identification betweenCATIA and SMARTEAM Documents is alsodisplayed in the VPDM view.

2. Engineering Collaboration*New* Item, Product Structure and BOM Management

The SMARTEAM – BOM product content in V5R17 has been massively enriched to address Small-to-Medium Businesses’ (SMBs) needs for Collaborative Engineering scenarios across theextended enterprise, as well as Supply Chain Collaboration from an Item and Bills of Material (BOM)-centric approach.

ENOVIA SmarTeam’s new item-drivenapproach enables a huge shift in the center of gravity of an organization’s PLM system – from document-centric to item-centric approach. It expands solution value by allowing customers to derive greater configuration control and management around product data. ENOVIASmarTeam enables item behavior to be based on business rules and fully lifecycle-managed.This complements other kinds of enterprisesystems (e.g. ERP, configuration management), which are typically item-driven.

Now ENOVIA SmarTeam provides standardized, out-of-the-box best practices forItem and BOM management, aligned with known engineering standards, such as CMII, and addressing most of the requirements that are demanded of a PLM solution today.

And because ENOVIA SmarTeam provides cross industry solutions, its unique, highlyflexible Item lifecycle rule engine enablesorganizations to further adjust the system to their engineering processes, and easilyconfigure the system to most any possibleengineering scenario.

Using a SMARTEAM – BOM license, these advanced capabilities are integrated directly from within SMARTEAM – Editor, SMARTEAM – Workflow, SmarTeam’s Multi-CAD Integrations, and in V5R17 SP4 also from SMARTEAM – Web Editor for remote connectivity.

In this manner, a unified ENOVIA SmarTeam’s Item-centric platform serves as a backbone for any manufacturing organization.Document Management, EAI Connectivity and Multi-site capability, complement this approach.

Flexible Item Lifecycle Management optimizes all product maturity phases across a product lifecycle, and provides the framework for covering engineering configurationmanagement scenarios. ENOVIA SmarTeam provides full control over an item’s engineeringstatus, applying go/no-go rules and allowingnon-sequential routing, enabling a swiftengineering response to ensure product quality. It integrates, configures and propagates an item's full business logic across the lifecycle.

Seamless “design-to-configure” Bill of Materials generation and compare -Automatic generation of the E-BOM from theearliest stages of CAD design accelerates engineering processes by giving access to engineering data early in the design phase. By automating the creation of Bills of Materials,such as “design-to-order” and “build-to-order,”V5R17standardizesand drives best-practiceconcurrentengineering,saving time and reducingerrors. The new BOM capability seamlesslycreates and updates the engineering Bill ofMaterials (E-BOM) during design, includingfrom ENOVIA SmarTeam’s multi-CAD integrations. Accelerated Engineering - BOM access enhances bidding, cost evaluation, and other business roles across the productionprocess.

Advanced structure filtering according to lifecycle revision rules optimizes visibility into the product structure. V5R17 adds value to engineeringconfigurationmanagementwith a new layer of filtering on top of date and unit effectivityfiltering.Users can monitor, filterand view the product structure in expanded depth, across lifecycle states and maturity phases (e.g. Latest Revision, Active,Production), for enhanced knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Platform robustness, with multiple views,enriched copying/editing and greater usability, promote BOM collaboration across disciplines. Multiple views management provides an out-of-the-box environment for managing cross-structural data flow throughoutthe product lifecycle.

Multiple Configuration Views is a capabilitywhich is used to extract and represent a specific subset (configuration) of the Objectstructure according to certain criteria.SMARTEAM– BOM supports alternativeconfiguration views of the product and its item structures. Multiple Configuration Views enables to handle different Product Structure variations that are created by applying complex effectivity criteria, combined with Item Lifecycle Revision Rules. Performing Product Structuremanipulation on BOM within one ConfigurationView does not affect other Configuration Views of the same assembly, i.e. different

Configuration Views are independent. In the case that the intent is to keep these Views in synchronization, this is done by a manualoperation - supported by a powerful Copy Tool.

A unique and powerful Generic Copy Toolcombines object structures copy and synchronization capabilities. It is based on data model business rules that enable mapping of various object classes and attributes, and provides enterprise users with continuousstructured data flow and transformation on top of different data model implementations, such as from a "Requirements BOM" to "Cost BOM" from a CAD Design structure to Engineering BOM and so on.

Enhanced BOM Editor for editing and historytrackingThe embedded and intuitive BOM Editor provides rich capabilities, including in-cell and multi-selection editing, highlighting and history tracking, enhancing productivity.

This BOM editing tool sustains consistency of a BOM in all possible editing manipulations, suchas multiple add, delete or replacement of an Item, sorting capabilities and multiple updates of BOM attributes. Easy drag & drop capability between Product Structure and BOM Editor enables fast and efficient BOM redaction and exchange of Items among multiple windows within SmarTeam-editor environment.

In sum, ENOVIA SmarTeam V5R17 adds new depth and breakthrough flexibility to the product structure, accelerating the engineering process and PLM solution value through earliest possible access to design data.

3. Enterprise Collaboration

Web GUI and usabilityENOVIA SmarTeam V5R17 simplifies collaborative process with a newly designed Web user interface that extends user productivity and ease of use. The visual makeover includes user cockpits, easybrowsing and profile card viewing, providing an intuitive, friendly remote environment that streamlines work processes. New Graphical User interface (GUI)

The new SMARTEAM – Web Editor, and SMARTEAM - Navigator GUI includes modern web design, utilizing an improved space usage and new icons. The interface is clearly divided into the following content areas: Menu, application toolbar, two object browsing panes, and the selected object profile card.

Ergonomics enhancements:

o New icon toolbar for the most commonly-used operations, e.g. add to clipboard, clear selection, filter, etc.

o Cockpit selection from the application toolbaro Full text search box area o Object browsing Capability

Navigation pane – Upon selection of an object, the main object browsing pane includes its commonly-used linked objecttypes. This flexible content area displays the linked objects in a tree structure. The user may override public settings withhis/her selected ones.Related objects pane – A flexible and dynamic display area for presenting additional linked objects in a flat format, to reduce the visual overload of data fromthe main navigation pane. This pane can be resized and minimized.

o Selection of a leading object – Setting of a leading object default is now enabled directly from the new command bar of the object profile card. The selection of aleading object is now made easy as setting a “Favorite” object.

Adding Clipboard capabilities for improved user productivity. The user can easily reuse selected objects for fast work experience.

Desktop Last Public Revision filtering In the first level of a Desktop View or in the first level of objects that are directly linked to folders, or leading objects,SMARTEAM displays only the “Last public revision” objects, and filters out all the other statuses. The “Last public revision” selection does not propagate toits linked objects, thus does not breakthe product structure.

Lifecycle operationso Open – Any file can be opened

directly from WED by its native authoring application, including CAD applications, for file modification.

o The “Run” button in a lifecycleoperation setting applies all changesautomatically, replacing the “Apply Changes' button

Support for Workflow script tasksWED supports various workflow scripttasks adapting to specific organizationalprocess needs. For example, upon a “check-in operation of a new object, thescript can automatically add the appropriate record in the relevant Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (In case, such a connectivity is defined).

Visualization and Markup V5R17 enriches usability with redlining,measurement and other visualizationenhancements, promoting concurrentengineering. (Applicable to EDR, WED, NVR, CMT*)

Folder BehaviorFolder behavior is a database mechanism that can be applied to any class. A Folder behavior enables managing native directories in SMARTEAM, drag and drop objects from different super classes into the folder, display of all contained objects in a tree view, and enables efficient filtering. E.g. a “public document” filter filters only the “public documents” and not the folders themselves.

SecurityR17 enables the securing of data by project, extending collaboration while protecting knowledge assets. Security definitions (user authorizations) associated with the project are applied automatically to the data. Engineers can leverage this capability to ensure exposure to relevant parties only. The enhancement adheres to recommended models for enterprise-level security.

Add & secure objects to restricted projectsUsers are able to add objects and secure them to a restricted project based on their project-based authorizations. In previous releases,users needed to have global authorizations in order to add objects prior to linking them to a restricted project. In this manner, companies can assign users to selected projects, and the users get permissions to work in the boundariesof the specific project, thus adhering toenterprise security work model.

PackagingENOVIA SmarTeam provides key customer value by scaling from basic documentmanagement to full collaborative Product Data Management on the same platform, enabled by a highly flexible data model that is rapidlyadapted to growing PLM scenarios.

Effective December 4, 2006, the SMARTEAM – SA Adapter Product (5691-SAA) for SAP R/3 ERP system, and the SMARTEAM – OA Adapter Product (5691-OAA) for the Oracle Applications 11i ERP system, are withdrawn.Migration paths are not proposed.

Integrations with SAP R/3 and Oracle 11i Applications are available through existing and authorized 3rd party Microsoft BizTalk Server adapters, and IBM WebSphere Integration (WBI) Adapters.
