What is Learning Tools Interoperability?
• Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) is a single standard by which
EdTech providers can seamlessly link items of content with the
major Learning Management Systems. The LTI “standard” is set by
IMS Global—a non-profit collaborative advancing EdTech
interoperability, innovation, and learning impact.
• LTI allows access to latest technology standards for deep linking
technology.
What are the benefits of using LTI?
• Seamless Authentication
• One place for course information
• Deep linking into ProQuest databases
How to set up ProQuest as an External Tool within Canvas using LTI 1.3 Deep Linking Technology -ProQuest Support Center
What does this mean for faculty & students?
• Easy way to “hand” students assigned articles, passages, videos
• Integrate the materials directly into course modules or assignments
• No need to fetch, download, and upload materials from another place
• Students click on the links and they open in Canvas or Moodle
without additional authentication
• Students can access this anywhere they can access Canvas or Moodle
