New Marketing & Merchandising Programs
• Partner Newsletters – Handango recommends software apps to be included in various partner
email newsletters. Current partners including software recommendations from Handango are Microsoft, Nokia, Sony Ericsson and palmOne.
• Customer Picks (a.k.a. Listmania)– Top 10 lists of customers’ favorite apps, organized by theme. See:

• Alerts – Handango Alerts help users get notified of the software they want to know
about. Handango Members can create a daily or weekly email Alert based on their choice of device, category, product, developer and/or keyword!

specific devices so we can recommend them
for partner newsletters!
New Marketing & Merchandising Programs
• Tell a Friend – This offers a way for customers to let their friends know about a particular
app along with a link back to the app. The “Tell-a-Friend” link shows up on the product detail page on Handango.com and most of our partner sites.
• New & Notable Newsletter – Launched in October 2003, this newsletter features new, updated and
notable apps only and is available for Palm OS and Pocket PC titles. It goes out on alternating weeks from the Handango Champion.
• Post-Trial Email – Each time a customer requests a trial download, we ask them to enter their
email. If they enter their email and download as a “Guest”, then we will send them an email 14 days later asking them to come back and purchase it. (We also recommend newly uploaded apps.)

New Marketing & Merchandising Programs
• Handango Rewards Offer – Each month we send our opted in Frequent Buyers a newsletter that
features unique software discounts, application promotions and ways to earn double or triple points!
• First Look – Handango First Look is a sneak peek program for new software. Customers
are able to put your product on a watch list and receive an automatic email notification when the product becomes available for download. This is a great way to jumpstart your sales for new products or updates!
• Removal of Out-of-Date Apps– Handango has begun cleaning up its catalog by removing out-of-date apps
in order to provide a better customer experience and increase sales of newer, better apps

• Search Engines– Over 30% of customers find us through search engines– We’ve optimized Handango’s site and are purchasing pay-per-click words– We’re feeding our catalog to Froogle– Results: Above-the-fold placements in Web searches; rankings for broad
and product-specific keywords; all your apps now available thru Froogle!
• Direct Marketing– Large-scale promotion kickoff with American Express in Q3 & Q4– 2 million AMEX customers will receive a Handango flyer in their bill!
• Affiliates– Expanded recruitment & marketing– Result: Number of affiliates & average revenue per affiliate has doubled
