REPEAT BOUTIQUE
Thank you for a great first year! It was just a year ago this month that we were preparing for the grand opening of our new hospice thrift store, Repeat Boutique. Thanks to all of you who donated, shopped and volunteered, the store has exceeded our expectations.
We knew that opening the store would be a fun and easy way for people to help support our mission of caring for those in our community. What we didn’t realize then was how deeply meaningful the process of donating can be.
As people bring in items, often from loved ones who have passed, stories and memories are shared, bringing joy, laughter and tears at times. Donating has been healing in a way for some and provides a way to honor loved ones through helping others.
A few “thank you’s,” smiles and hugs later, donations are sorted, priced and made ready for sale by a team of dedicated volunteers. With 51 volunteers to one paid staff member/manager, they are truly the heart of this operation.
Rita and Bill Leach have been working at the store since June. After swinging by the store one day to shop, they felt compelled to come back as volunteers. Rita’s father received hospice care so she understands the importance of this specialized service first-hand. She see’s volunteering at the store as “a way to give back - pay it forward.”
The store sells clothing and accessories (including brand new wedding dresses donated from the Purple Parasol), household items, décor and more, but the biggest selling item is furniture like that donated by Brent and Michele Preston.
“After my mom’s passing in December 2016 (and my dad’s passing in 2001) we couldn’t think of a better place to take several pieces of antique furniture that
belonged to my parents. We were thankful that Hospice was there in our time of need. This was a small contribution on our part to a much-needed service in our area. Thank you.” - Brent
Now that the Kennewick store is established, we are excited to announce that we are bringing the Repeat Boutique experience to Richland. Our second Repeat Boutique store in the Uptown Shopping Center is scheduled to open this Spring. You are invited to join us for a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony in April. The exact date and time will be announced soon.
Again, we are incredibly grateful to all of you for making this possible and for your commitment to caring for those in our community who are experiencing illness, crisis and loss. You are appreciated!

HOSPICE GENERATOR CAMPAIGN The Hospice House in Kennewick has been a sacred and special place in our community since 1996, thanks to the support and donations of hundreds of wonderful people and local businesses who realized a need for a home-like facility that could provide spiritual, emotional and physical care at the end of life. After 21 years and more than 4,500 patients, the hospice house continues to be a place of comfort, peace and life for patients and their families.
As a Medicare provider of hospice, new federal mandates require a back-up generator for all Hospice House facilities at an unexpected cost to us of nearly $200,000!
As a community non-profit organization that already relies heavily on donations to provide services, help funding this project is needed.
If you are able to make a gift, of any size, it will help us provide this vital electrical back-up to keep our medical support systems running for our hospice patients in times of need.
For more information or to support this special project, please check out our fundraising campaign on Go Fund Me at gofundme.com/chaplaincyhospicecare. Thank you!
HeART of Healing A Benefit for Cork’s PlaceSaturday, April 28, 2018 | 6:00–9:00 pm | At Michele’s Event Center, Richland
You are invited to join us for our 2nd annual HeART of Healing benefit for Cork’s Place at the beautiful new At Michele’s Event Center in Richland. Cork’s Place, for children, teens and families, was designed to help youth in our community who are experiencing loss. We provide a safe place where families receive support from trained compassionate facilitators while connecting with others who are grieving.
Our HeART of Healing event will feature original artwork created by local grieving children and teens. Guests will enjoy the exhibit, auction, raffle, music, wine, appetizers and a moving program.
Proceeds from HeART of Healing help make it possible to provide this program at no cost for those in our community. Tickets are $50 per person. For more information or to purchase tickets, please go to our website (chaplaincyhealthcare.org/event/heart-of-healing) or call us at (509) 783-7416.
