What's growing on the abortion instruments?

"When someone, whether it be the doctor or clinic receptionist or the nurses, orwhomever, once they cross that line of going into the killing business and believe me theyknow they are in the killing business, better than anybody else when that happens, all theother things that normally attend a medical environment evaporate. In other words, theirconcern about the patient goes away. Their concern about cleanliness, about medical ethicsand standards goes away. The abortion industry wants you to think that an abortion clinicis just like any other free standing clinic, except they happen to do abortions rather thansome other medical procedure. We want people to understand that's not what's going on

    here. "

    Particles of dark reddish-brown material

According to ABC's news show, state health reports say inspectors found surgical instruments at the A-ZWomen's Centerto be unsterile. The March 8,1999 show entitled,A Womans Right, A womans

risk(20/20 Transcript # 99030802-j11) reported that instruments supposedly sterilized, were inspectedand found to have particles of dark reddish-brown or translucent material on them of an unknown originat the A-Z Women's Center, a Phoenix abortion clinic owned by abortionist Moshe Hachamovitch .

In addition, health-code violations were also alleged in Hachamovitch's Houston abortion facility.

Hachamovitch was fined $2,500 for the conditions at the Phoenix A-Z clinic but the amount was laterreduced to $1,250 by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration. On January 31,1999,The News Journal reported in an article entitled,Abortion doctor tied to 6 deaths, that health violationsincluded a suction machine fouled with blood, dirt and dried soap.

Abortion tables and floor, stained with the blood

The Los Angeles Times reported (Doctor accused in abortion suit testifies: 7/30/1989) that in 1987,California health officials inspected the Inglewood abortion hospital and found that abortions were

performed in an operating room where tables and floors were stained with the blood of previouspatients and medical personnel did not wash their hands and equipment between operations.

Green mold on the abortion suction machine

In Florida, inspectors at the Blue Coral Medical Center abortion clinic found green mold growing in thetubing of one suction abortion machine, and stained blood on the stirrups of the procedure table.

Greg Coler, secretary of the State Department of Health, stated the Blue Coral abortion clinics appear tobe little more than a satellite operation and pointed out:

"There was actually an abortion-suction device in this place that had green mold growing on

it. When we got there , there wasnt any soap in the place, so our inspectors had to go next doorto wash their hands."

Inspectors also stated that the abortion suction machines were dirty, stained, and the tubing containedresidual matter from previous completed abortions.

    Abortion equipment was bloody

As noted in a PR Newswire story (Florida HRS closes Broward County abortion clinic: 10/5/89) FloridaHealth Inspectors at the Ladies First abortion clinic found that gauze pads were stained yellow and hadbeen packed for re-use. Inspectors were horrified to see that some of the supposed sterile equipmentwas covered in blood.

Abortion oxygen masks smeared with lipstick

On October 10,1989, Florida Health inspectors entered the Miami International EstheticCenterabortion clinic. Their inspection report revealed that inspectors found that oxygen masks used togive each patient anesthesia were smeared with lipstick and makeup.

Vacuum suction machine a dark, reddish residue

Florida health officials at the Womens Service Centerabortion clinic in South Florida found that steriletechniques were routinely compromised, according to the HRS report dated September 22-23, 1989.

Inspectors reported that the paper the abortion clinic used to wrap equipment for sterilization was reuseduntil it was so dirty with blood or ripped that it must be discarded.

Inspectors also noted that the manual resuscitator was also dirty and the vacuum suction machine had adark, reddish residue on it. When they asked clinic staff the last time it had been sterilized they could notrecall when it was cleaned or sterilized last.

    Gruesome discoveries after evicting abortionist

After an abortion clinic in Kansas could not pay its rent, the owner of the building placed the building upfor sale. The building was purchased ny Operation Rescue.

    According to Operation Rescue:

"There was mold, and general filth. The carpets outside the abortion rooms were stained withblood, even though it was evident that some effort had been made to clean them. The ceilingnearby was broken. All of the walls were dirty and some were covered with cheap contact paperinstead of being properly maintained. Under the sink was one of the biggest garbage disposals Ihave ever seen. The entire area had the stench of death. It was the sink where the suctionmachine bottles were washed. In fact, dried blood could be seen that had seeped out from themetal band that surrounded the sink top. There was a bucket marked 'biohazard' next to the sink."

After applying a substance called luminol, a reagent that brightly glows in the dark when it comes incontact with even minute traces of human blood, witnesses reported that:

The walls looked like there had been a chain saw massacre in there. We couldnt believe oureyes. We certainly did not expect to find that much blood in the recovery area. It appeared thatcarpeting had been laid after some very bloody event or events had taken place in that room. Wewere absolutely shocked.

Blood was stored with food inside the refrigerator

Former employee Sheri McDaniel said this in an October 22,1992 affidavit about heremployer abortionist William Malcolm Knarr :

"The blood was stored with food inside the refrigerator in the kitchen.Blood was often timespoured down the sink."

Abortion suction tube became opaque in color

According to the Maryland Board of Physicians (case # 2005-0499) on November 1, 2005,abortionist Gideon M. Kioko had his medical license suspended by the Maryland Board of Physicians.During the investigation the board discovered several health violations at the clinic where Kiokoperformed his abortions.

The case states that the carpet was stained and unclean. Office staff reported to the board that Kioko didnot use new sterile aspirations for each patient, that Kioko used the same tube on each patientthroughout the day and only washed it when it became opaque in color. Proper emergency equipmentwas also lacking at the clinic.

    Dried blood on abortion instruments

Abortion Doctor Is Accused of Using Dirty Tools, the December 12,1991 New York Times article thatreported on the condition of abortionist Abu Hayat's clinic.

The article quotes Chris Stern Hyman, chief counsel for the New York State Health Department Bureau ofProfessional Medical Conduct, as he recounts the testimony of the clinic's former receptionist, MarjorieAndrade.

She testified that she saw instruments "on which there was dried blood, and these were instruments

that were about to be used."

Andrade also said Dr. Hayat kept a 6-month fetus in a freezer for weeks.

In an interview on WNBC-TV, Ms. Andrade said: "I've never seen any instruments sterilized. He used torinse them out with water and soap."

Also testifying against abortionist Hayat was Dr. Peter Sailone, a gynecologist called to assess theevidence. Dr. Sailone commented on a videotape showing Dr. Hayat's clinic. Hyman said: "It included

footage that showed disposable suction curettes. Dr. Sailone testified that i t appeared that they had beenre-used." Dr. Sailone said: "He shouldn't be practicing if he took care of these patients. It's terrible. Theconditions were awful."

    Jagged edges on abortion instruments

Source: 20/20 A womans right, a womans risk 3-8-1999/ The Journal News,Abortion doctor tied to 6 deaths: 1-31-1999

20/20 investigated a Houston abortion clinic and reported the following:

"In Houston, another abortion gone bad, this one involving 15-year-old Jamie Garcia, whoultimately died from massive infection after an abortion at a clinic where state authorities say theyfound filthy instruments and an absentee owner."

Attorney General, John Cornyn said investigators found one nightmare condition after another at theclinic in Houston. "He was more interested in the profits and cared little, if any, about the health andthe life of the patients. We were successful in running him out of the state. There were jaggededges on some of the instruments that were supposed to be smooth, which literally tore theuterus of this young woman."

Jammie Garcia Yanez-Villegas died from blood poisoning after her cervix was torn at A to Z Women'sHealth Services in Houston owned by Dr. Moshe Hachamovitch(who did not perform theabortion). Follow-up inspections there uncovered dangerous and unsanitary conditions that the TexasHealth Department labeled an''immediate threat'' to public health.

Specific allegations included supposedly sterilized surgical instruments encrusted with reddish-brown and

clear substances, as well as a tray of instruments awaiting use that held a curette - the tool used toscrape a patient's uterus - whose edge was jagged instead of smooth, as required for patient safety.

Hachamovitch said the infection wasn't his clinic's fault, but suggested, without any evidence, it couldhave been the result of the girl's sexual activity after the abortion. Hachamovitch initially denied thecharges when the Health Department sued to shut down the Houston clinic, but he later failed to appearfor trial and was found in default. A judgment of $150,000, plus costs, was awarded in 1996.

According to reports, Hachamovitch closed that clinic and two others in San Antonio and Dallas. He let

his Texas medical license expire in 1997.

A related civil lawsuit filed by Yanez-Villegas' husband accused Hachamovitch of running his Texasclinics as '''abortion mills'. . . performing large numbers of unsafe abortions at low rates and withgrossly inadequate care.''

The lawsuit also accused Hachamovitch of individually incorporating each of his clinics as a ''sham and afraud'' to avoid liability. The case was eventually settled out of court for an undisclosed amount, said theplaintiff's lawyer, Theodore Amshoff Jr. of Louisville, Ky.

Abortion equipment in blood stained wrappers

PR Newswire service reported that at the Dadeland Family Planning abortion clinic in Miami, Healthand Rehabilitative Services (HRS) found supposedly sterile equipment stored in bloodstained paperwrappings.

In their October 5,1989 article entitled, FloridaHRS closes Broward County abortion clinic, they claim thatthe Miami Herald sent undercover reporters inside this abortion clinic who reported that unlicensedpersons were performing abortions. The state only moved in to close the dirty facility after a scathingarticle was written by Miami Herald reported, Debbie Sontag, in the Herald's September 1989 TropicMagazine.

Dirty dishes, dried blood, and roaches

The Kansas newspaper, The Pitch, reported filthy conditions at a local abortion clinic owned byabortionist Krishna Rajanna.

The June 16, 2005 article titled, Mm, Mm Good, Startling allegations against an abortion doctor. Thepaper reported that A Kansas police detective made this astonishing report of abortionist KrishnaRajanna s clinic:

"The clinic was dirty inside. As we proceeded through the facility I noted the back area was verydark and dingy looking with poor lighting and smelling musty. We entered the "break room" tointerview Rajanna (the abortionist). There were dirty dishes in the sink and on the tabletop, trasheverywhere, and roaches crawling across the countertops, with a smell of a stench in the room.Frankly, I was reluctant to sit down. I noted there werent containers for medical waste withuniversally recognized hazardous waste labels on them. On the way out my partner observed thatthe "procedure room" was filthy. He told me that he saw dried blood on the floor and the roomlooked "nasty" to him."

"I saw filthy conditions in abortions clinics even when "Roe" was supposed to clean up "backalley" abortions. I saw the low regard for women from abortion doctors. My conscience wasbothering me more and more, causing me to drink more and more and more."

In a separate interview Norma described the unsanitary conditions she was forced to work in, the brutality

of the operation itself and the fear on the faces of many of the girls who found themselves in thisposition "not because they wanted to, but because a boyfriend or parents had pressured them intoit."

"I started out as a cleaner at the first clinic. The place was filthy. We couldnt even use bleachbecause the abortionist was too cheap to give us the money to buy some. I also assisted thewomen before and after their abortion. I remember holding one womans hand and telling her tostay very still because of the particular instrument that was being used. If she moved she couldrupture her uterus."

    Dust on abortion table

October of 1999, the Ohio State Department of Health inspected the Capital Care Women's Center inColumbus.

They found among other deficiencies: dust on the equipment in the procedure and surgery room. It laternoted that there was no infection control tracking or monitoring. Based on several pages of the report, thestate declined to license the facility at that time.
