Welcome to summer at The Hive!We are looking forward to a bit of sunshine and long summer days with a packed programme of activities and events for everyone. This season it is all about celebrating our environment and nostalgia for things from the past. Get ready for the annual Summer Reading Challenge, celebrating 80 years of The Beano; watch out for Dennis, Gnasher and his pals and get creative with comic-making! Our summer exhibition is all about lost landscapes and lost species, with a wonderful exhibition in the atrium and an exciting digital installation on the lower ground floor. Millicent the Mammoth will be guiding you around and there are lots of fun things to do and find out about.

Lastly, not to forget that June heralds exams for our students and we wish them and everyone doing exams lots of luck. Don’t forget to Study Happy and to seek advice and support from our staff. We have lots of study spaces to suit all ways of learning and even offer tea and cake if required!

We come to the end of our anniversary year in July and would like to thank you all for supporting us and for all the feedback you have given. We hope you will continue to enjoy The Hive and to tell everyone about us.

Have a wonderful summer.

Ice Age at The Hive

Over this enormous timespan there were many changes in climate, from woolly mammoths roaming icy tundra in Bromsgrove, to prehistoric lions hunting the grasslands beneath Bredon Hill. Lost Landscapes of Worcestershire will bring this little known period of our prehistory to life.

Lost Landscapes Exhibitions

16 June - 8 September Origins of Us - Atrium An exhibition detailing all aspects of what it meant to be human in the Ice Age. Drawing on collections from the Worcester Museum and Art Gallery.

Visitors’ own understanding of what the term Ice Age means will be interpreted through the discoveries of nineteenth century antiquarians and geologists.

Through the Mists of Time Level 0Commissioned by SDNA, a creative studio based in London, this is an immersive experience inspired by the evolution of humans towards the end of the last Ice Age that led to the birth of modern society.
