CHILDREN’S MINISTRY Worship (4/10/16) 522 (8:30-63; 9:15-266; 11:10-193) SS 405 STEWARDSHIP APRIL 20 CHURCH NIGHT SUPPER Serving Line Opens at 5:30 p.m. Menu: Baked Ham; Candied Yams; Blackeyed Peas; Rice; Tossed Salad; Cinnamon Rolls; Chef Salad Option (if you choose this option instead of the ham meal, please let us know by noon on Tuesday); Kids’ Meal - Ham & Cheese Sandwich, Chips, Cinnamon Rolls, Juice Program: A Celebration of Choirs featuring the Angel Choir, Joyful Noise, and the Youth Troupe Make a reservation by calling 436-6336, ext. 145, by noon on Tuesday or by filling out reservation forms and placing in offering plate. Please cancel by noon on Tuesday if you cannot attend, or payment is expected. THANK YOU! YOUTH NEWS MUSIC MINISTRY Dear Friends, The anthem this week is taken from that most famous of Psalms, Psalm 23. We can likely all recite it by heart. How much more profound, then, for a composer to attempt to write music that reflects the mood and spirit of this famous scripture. Just like when each of us reads it out loud, putting nuance and emphasis in different places, every composer who has set these words to music gives them a different interpretation. I like to think of it as a personalization. If each of us were asked what this scripture meant to us, how would we respond? Alan Pote gives us his response through music. May it be a blessing to all who hear. Please consider this your personal invitation to join the Music Ministry in 2016! There are vocal and instrumental “connect groups” for all ages and levels of experience. Please call me at the church, ext. 120, or e-mail me at [email protected] for any questions you have about where you can find a place to make music in God’s service. Peace, Marc April 17 Schedule 4 p.m. Youth Troupe practice in the Choir Room and band practice in the Youth Room. 5:30 p.m. We will meet outside for GAGA Ball! Sunday, April 24 3:30-6:30 p.m. Chehaw Park

Spring is in full bloom, and it’s picnic weather!!! Some of Porterfield’s greatest moments are when the families of the church join

together as one and celebrate God’s creation with one another! Chehaw is a beautiful example of that, and it offers the perfect location for our families to fellowship.

Bring your bikes and helmets, your lawn chairs, and a dessert and enjoy an afternoon of fun! Caren and I will have different games for the whole family to enjoy. This afternoon is for all families of all ages. We will end our time together with grilled hamburgers and hotdogs. The church is covering admission to Chehaw, but please use your annual pass if you have one. Please contact Jane in the front office ([email protected] or 436-6336, ext. 112) and let us know how many will be joining us. See you there!
