I have heard the case that North Korean army launched hundreds of big fires into South Korean areas

where thousands of people were residing there. It is believed that it was the latter’s army drills deemed

to the catalyst for this provocative action. That shocked us to the core and induced the idea as to whenthe world war three could happen.

Past wars already deprived us of opportunities and awakened us to the realization that the mostimportant present of all is to live. Only when being alive can we fathom what is meant by good or bad,

future or past, idealistic or realistic, desperate or joyful.

But why do until now conflicts still come to us when we are in peace? To many, it is far from possibleto put an end to rows between countries, let alone small groups of people. Natural resources are

limited, the desire to be above others are inherent in each of us, the difference in ideas and ideology is

there, which inevitably results in gaps among us. Especially, with globalization pervasively occurringand technology booming, the discrepancy increasingly turns wider, accordingly.

So what should we do if faced with such undeniable truths? According to Buddhism, it is better for usto stifle the temptations in each person, say, avarice, selfishness and cruel instinct. The paradox, then,

again arises since without such credentials, human could hardly have given birth to creative inventions

that revolutionized the world and spurred people to try their utmost to do something. Years of beingslaves to natural disasters and mother’s nature have rendered thousands of little lives starved and

exhausted, and not until the appearance of technological innovations has the quality of life

transformed, and concurrently, other unwanted problems emerge, typically, the world wars among

nations in the great bid to remap the world.

Human history has gone through two world wars and many of us have been instilled with the belief

that that was already enough for people to bear, but the fate of the earth remains open to doubt. Being

bombarded with doom -laden predictions by Vanga, one of the prominent fortunetellers of this era, that the world war three is imminent, we cannot help but wonder till which moment we truly enjoy the

life of stability.

Let’s discuss to predict what happens to the world next fifty years, SEAMAP MEMBERS

A. Game: PLAY WITH WORDS ALL STARTING WITH “IN”

B. Questions to ponder

1. What do you think about the case that North Korea attacked South Korea this week? Why could that

happen, to the best of your knowledge?

2. Do you think the world war three might happen? If yes, which countries could be involved?

3. Do you know anything about Vanga’s predictions? Are they true until now?

4. What will happen to the world fifty years later? And what’s about hundreds of years later?

Are there any differences in human today and human hundreds of years later?   Imagine in a

funny way as much as possible.
