Teleconference between 2 different schools during the Computers’ Class of High Schools

Basic Idea

The Basic idea of this activity was the «On Line» connection of two classes of different schools during the

class, so as to have an exchane of opinions and discussion on common projects that students have been charged with individually or in groups, during the previous teaching-

hour.

Target & Context

Educational target and Learning aims: Exchange of opinions between two classes of different

schools in «real time» mode during the lesson-hour. Familiarization of the students with the new technologies.Context: Video Conference between two classes of the schools for

discussion and exchange of opinions on common subjects.

Realization - Material

The two schools had in their equipment the following:

1) Internet - Multimedia P.C. (Celeron 400 MHz , Modem, Sound Card, 64 MB RAM)

2) Connection with the Internet ( OteNet )3) System of Video capture (Quick Cam USB or Video In

Card + Camera)4) Micropfones5) Graphic Card with T.V. Out

Problems

There is a problem in matching the teaching-hours between the two schools. The problem is solved by borrowing hours from other classes

There were noticed some delays in sound transfer and video transfer which were due th the slow connection of one of the High Schools (33.6 Kbps). The problem will be solved by updating of the connection in ISDN BRI (the relevant application has allready been made)

Conclusions

Easy and time-saving connection Enthousiasm of the children with this new possibility Seriousness in coping with the whole attempt from

the part of the children. Big improvement in project preparing. Big improvement in the quality of the projects’

context. More interest of the children for the new techologies.
