Signature Project 1 – Dahl Dam and Irrigation SystemWhy is this an important

project for the people of Afghanistan?

This is important to the Afghani people because this irrigation system will enable the majority of Kandahar resident access to safe agricultural water, create numerous seasonal jobs and augment agricultural output.

What is Canada doing to help? Providing 50 million dollars to put into the repairs and maintenance of the dam as well as training farmers in water management.

Signature Project 2 – EducationWhy is this an important

project for the people of Afghanistan?

Education is important to every country; a countries greatest resource is it’s people but they cannot better their country until they have bettered themselves with knowledge.

Signature Project 3 – Polio EradicationWhy is this an important

project for the people of Afghanistan?

Polio is a debilitating transmitted by person to person contact to saliva. Education on transmission and proper treatment are severely lacking as well as prevention. To put an end to polio would dramatically improve the Afghani quality of life.

What is Canada doing to help?

Donating 60 million dollars to the cause and vaccinating seven million children.
