Film Trailer

• Do not over edit for the sake of it• Keep the camera steady and do not over use of hand held camera• Keep the actors in the shot and not miss out part of them e.g. not in

the scene fully• Make sure the trailer is a trailer and not like a few scenes of the movie• Use of institutional indents which take up a large amount of time for

no point• Relying heavily on stereotypical clichés• Do not over pack the trailer with lots of different sounds

Things not to do

Magazine cover• Use of a unconventional layout which doesn’t promote the magazine

well• Use of a large amount of different colours• Forgetting conventional institutional elements such as logos• Use of ineffective images such as an image which doesn’t relate to the

movie• Do not randomly place text and fonts which don’t suit the genre of

the movie or the house style of the magazine

Things not to do

Film poster• Use of unconventional layout such as putting the masthead small in

the corner• Use of random colours such as yellow and black which don’t suit the

genre/film house style• Plain layout of the film poster which doesn’t catch the audience’s

attention• Make sure the film poster and magazine cover have a similar brand

identity and are not completely different
