I grew up watching The Last Dragon. It was well written, with awesome music and Leroy appearing in many shots shirtless, chiseled and looking very sexy. However, there is more to this movie than

just looks. It offered a great deal of value, spiritual value of course. I guess you didn’t see that coming,

especially with Vanity in the film.

However, the movie had a common theme that resonated with different people from all across the

world. In short, we are all looking for the master. And we all want to get that glow, partly because we need the glow to grow. Let’s take a walk down memory

lane and rehash some of the more spiritual elements of this film.

I like to use characters and movie themes a lot in my work, partly because I believe that artist, particularly

writers are the most spiritual. They have studied craft for a very long time and have mastered the common themes that resonate with the masses.

For example, many of us can relate to Leroy’s character, especially those of us who started to

embark on the spiritual path from a very young age. Leroy is not interested in women, friends, money,

fame, or fortune. The only thing that he is interested in is searching for the glow, which is euphuism for

inner peace and enlightenment.

Ironically, in his travels he comes across all of the things that he despises most. So he has to battle and even master his demons before he is able to get the glow. An obsessed and greedy music producer who

encompasses societies’ obsession with fame and fortune challenges him. And he and his family are

continually bullied by

Sho-Nuff, the show gun of Harlem, who is in short a representative of the massive ego that comes along

with having power, fame, and fortune. Leroy gets beat down, humiliated, and even questions his ability to

appeal to the beautiful and alluring Laura Charles, all in his quest to master the glow. So what’s the gist of the

story?

Well, in short, we need to battle and overcome the darkness within before we can master the

lightness that stems from without. This theme of enlightenment is not really new. In fact, it

derives from many common stories and themes from the bible.

Even the whole concept of becoming enlightened and getting the glow, derives from the Tibetan

theory of the rainbow body. Although there are many people who would say that there’s actually

documented cases of monks or priest turning into rainbow bodies.

I have yet to see this happen myself, so I can only deduct for now that these theories are just

theories. However, I truly ‘believe’ that humanity can and needs to evolve to higher levels of

consciousness. I also believe that it is possible for the physical body to transform into beams of

bright light.

In fact, this theory may very well be the premise that defines spirituality and the path to enlightenment, as we know it.

So in essence, we are all looking for the glow. We are all looking for the master who can get us there! The

quest to find the glow is not just a theme that is reserved to a pg13 movie. It is a prevailing concept that has dominated Western thought and perhaps

sprung from the seeds of ancient cultures from all over the world. From the ancient Persians to the Christians priests to the Krishna Hindus, to Buddhist monks, to

the civilizations of Africa alluding to people transcending into light bodies.

So much like the movie The Last Dragon. The theme of the light body resonated with billions of people from

all over the world. We are all looking for the master that stems from within, but the difficulty lies with us getting there. So we have to look toward a guide, a

master who can take us by the hand and leads us on a path of enlightenment. So who better to do that than

the ‘Sun” of God, Jesus Christ.
