DRAFT ESSAYWhat is sketching? Sketching is the term usually describes the activity of

doing quick drawing of what we see around us. They are made in the diariesthat are called “sketchbooks”. You can draw any monument, street, people orwhatever you want without thinking about a final result as it is not consideredas an artwork. Usually, a pen, a water colour and a sketchbook are used to dosketches. Sketching is useful for my respective course, Foundation in Naturaland Built Environment. There are certain subjects that sketching is neededsuch as Creative Thinking Skill, Element of Natural and Built Environment,Constructed Landscape and Introduction to Drawing. I think Introduction toDrawing is the main subject that we have to put a lot of afford to learn and toknow more about different kind of drawing. Moreover, my process essay isabout the usual thing that can only use in the kitchen. So, this is going to beabout a kitchen utensil.

First, I have chosen a specific kitchen utensil named frying pan. Everyonehas their five senses that consist of sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. Butthere are two senses that can be used in describing the kitchen utensil, fryingpan. We can only see, touch and feel the frying pan but not taste and smell itbecause the frying pan has no specific taste or smell. From my point of view, the frying pan has a round flat-bottomed surface and a long black handle whileits surface is slightly rougher in touch. Furthermore, there is a differencebetween a heated and an unheated frying pan. Meanwhile, the frying pan is agreat cooking tool in the kitchen because the handle of the frying pan does notconduct heat. On the other hand, a flat-bottomed frying pan is easily used infrying, searing, and browning foods in our everyday life while we cook. I amvery sure that it is quite hard for humans to not use the frying pan whilecooking especially those who often cook their own meals at home. I chose thiskitchen utensil because without a frying pan, we could not fry a perfect sunnyside up, over easy egg or even a scrambled egg. So this is the reason why Ichose the frying pan.

3rd paragraph- Drawing tools are compulsory when you sketch, without those “professional”drawing tools you are unable to sketch a perfect sketch.

- Shading is a part of sketching too.

- Shading is a technique that used in art to represent light and shade byvarying the colour and intensity.

- For the part shading of my sketch I used a B pencil, because a B pencil isgood for medium to light shading.

- I also used a 2B pencil for medium to dark shading. If you want the darkershading can also use a 4B pencil, the effect will be nicer.

Page 3: What is sketching?

- When I sketch I need to clear the space to begin it with a peace of mind.Because I does not like something to block my way when I am doing sketching.I think no one likes that too.

4th paragraph- The shading techniques that I used for my sketch are cross hatching shadingand smooth shading.

- I used the cross hatching shading to create the effect of pressure andoverlapping.

- Smooth shading is the most common technique used for realistic drawings, just a pressure on the areas and use finger to blend it.

- Actually I do not really need special lighting when I sketch but just the normalwill do.

- It depends on what kind of drawing, if the drawing or sketching have to basedon the lighting, I will choose the place that the lighting not too bright.

- The mistakes that i made during sketching is I cannot really sketch a perfectsketch because my hand will shake and always create crooked line. That wasmy worst distraction.

-The way how they were corrected is I keep on training myself to draw astraight line without using a ruler.

5th paragraph- It took me one and the half hours to sketch a kitchen utensil.

- Why is it so long is because I had to look at every angle of the kitchen utensiland choose the best side to sketch.

- I felt so happy and satisfying. It is quite challenging because i have not donethis kind of essay before. And yes, I definitely will do this again.

We must peace our mind andfocus on something that we are sketching and must have the concept in ourmind to think what and how are we going to sketch the items out.

The mistakes that i made during sketching is I cannotreally sketch a perfect sketch because my hand will shake and always createcrooked line. That was my worst distraction. The way how they were correctedis I keep on training myself to draw a straight line without using a ruler.

Lastly, it took me one and the half hours to sketch a kitchen utensil. Why isit so long is because I had to look at every angle of the kitchen utensil andchoose the best side to sketch. In addition, I felt so happy and satisfying. It isquite challenging because i have not done this kind of essay before. And yes, Idefinitely will do this again.
