% % %Sources of Halal MeatThere are two primary sources of Halalmeat, land animals and aquatic animals.The slaughtering/processing of theseproducts must be done in accordance withthe Islamic laws and beliefs.All land animals are Halal except for thefollowing:1. Pigs and dogs and their descendants.2. Animals with large pointed teeth(canine) or tusks, such as tigers, bears,elephants, cats, monkeys, etc.3. All predatory birds.4. Animals decreed by Islam to be killed,but not eaten, such as mice, scorpions,crows, eagles and mad dogs.5. Animals that are forbidden to be killed,such as bees, ants, spiders,woodpeckers, etc.6. Creatures considered dirty by thepublic, such as lice, flies, etc.7. Animals that live on both land and inthe water (amphibians), such ascrocodiles, turtles, frogs, seals, etc.8. Animals that have been treated(excluding feeding) with any productderived from non-Halal sources.9. Animals that are not slaughteredaccording to Islamic (Shariah Law)guidelines.

Halal Slaughter Procedures• Animals should be in good health and notdismembered or diseased.• Welfare of the subject animals should beregarded (animals are not to be tortured ormistreated).• Cutting instrument to be of a single bladeand sharp.• Directing the subject animal (to be killed)toward Ghiblah (Makkah, al Mokaramah).• Recitation of “Bismillah” (in the Name ofGod) before the incision (cutting of theneck).• Use of Muslim slaughter men as prescribedby Islamic code (Shariah Law).Since only Allah (swt) gives life, life shouldonly be taken in His name to feed His people.Inspections and supervision are in place toensure products Halal integrity.Halal Blessing weekly logs kept at each facility.
