  2. 2. What is Diabetes? is usually a lifelong (chronic) disease in whichthere are high levels of sugar in the blood.The types of Diabetes Type one Diabetes Type two Diabetes
  3. 3. What is Type 1 Diabetes The body does not produce insulin. Some peoplemay refer to this type as insulin-dependentdiabetes, juvenile diabetes, or early-onsetdiabetes. People usually develop type 1 diabetesbefore their 40th year, often in early adulthoodor teenage years. Type 1 diabetes can occur at any age, butit is most often diagnosed in children,teens, or young adults. In this disease, thebody makes little or no insulin. Dailyinjections of insulin are needed. The exactcause is unknown.
  4. 4. What is Type 2 Diabetes? The body does not produce enough insulin for properfunction, or the cells in the body do not react to insulin(insulin resistance). Type 2 diabetes makes up most diabetes cases. It most oftenoccurs in adulthood. However, because of high obesity rates,teens and young adults are now being diagnosed with it.Many people with type 2 diabetes do not know they have it.
  5. 5. There are 2 kinds of sugar levels? There is Hyperglycemia, or high blood sugar(glucose), is a serious health problem forthose with diabetes. Hyperglycemia developswhen there is too much sugar in the blood. There's also Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar,is most common in people whohave diabetes.
  6. 6. What is Hyperglycemia? Hyperglycemia, or high blood sugar (glucose),is a serious health problem for thosewith diabetes. Hyperglycemia develops whenthere is too much sugar in the blood.

  8. 8. How to treat a High Blood Sugar? If your blood glucose is above 240mg/dl. Check yoururine for ketones and do not exercise if there areketones present as this will raise your blood glucoselevels even more! Drink Plenty of water. Water with Crystal Light.
  9. 9. What is Hypoglycemia? Hypoglycemia or low blood sugar,is most common in people whohave diabetes.

  11. 11. How to Treat A Low Blood Sugar? Foods with 15 grams carbohydrates 4 oz (1/2 cup) of juice 4 oz (1/2 cup) of Regular soda Sugar Tablets
