What is BioFlo?

BioFlo is a paraffin and asphaltene solvent and inhibitor for oil and gas wells, pipelines, and refineries. BioFlo has many advantages over competing

products. BioFlo works faster than toluene based solvents and is biodegradable, non-caustic, non-corrosive, refinery-friendly, and safe.

How does it work?

BioFlo dissolves paraffin and asphaltene accumulations in wells, pipelines, and tanks and blends them back into the crude oil. BioFlo can also inhibit paraffin and asphaltene from dropping out of the crude. BioFlo can be used to remove blockages and as a maintenance procedure to prevent the build of paraffin and

asphaltene before it begins.

Environmentally Friendly

Biodegradable - Non-Corrosive - Non-Caustic

BioFlo is an environmentally friendly alternative to toluene and xylene based solvents. BioFlo biodegrades naturally and will not contaminate the

soil. BioFlo greatly reduces the toxic effects that are common to most chemical treatments.

BioFlo has been approved by Certified Green Partners TM

Effectiveness

BioFlo dissolves paraffin and asphaltene in mere minutes. Other competing solvents can take several

hours to fully dissolve paraffin and asphaltene accumulations.

Works at Low Temperatures

BioFlo was successfully tested at temperatures of -40° C making it suitable for the coldest

climates on earth.

Refinery Friendly

BioFlo is refinery friendly. It does not have to be removed before the refining process. In fact, BioFlo actually improves the quality of the crude by increasing the specific gravity making it lighter and of higher quality.

Safe

BioFlo has a flash point of over 150 C. BioFlo is among the safest solvents on the market for handling and storage.

Reduces Maintenance CostsBioFlo reduces overall maintenance costs associated with paraffin and

asphaltene accumulations. The most common procedures are:

- mechanical work-overs- hot oil flushing- Solvents

BioFlo is much less costly than all of the most commonly employed methods.

Mechanical Work-Over

Mechanical work-overs require the well, pipeline, or tank to be taken out of commission for days, weeks, and even months. For an oil well, the piping is removed and then mechanically cleaned outside of the well. The cleaned

pipe is then reinstalled and the well put back online. This option is the longest and most labor intensive of the three common approaches. Labor costs and,

more importantly, the costs of lost production are extremely high.

Hot Oil FlushHot oil flushing uses oil that has already been pumped out of the well, heats it, and then injects it back into the well. The high temperature of the oil melts the paraffin and asphaltene deposits. Hot oil flush has several disadvantages:

- Hot oil flushing does not remove the paraffin and asphaltene from the well. Instead, it puts it back into the well only to have it accumulate again.

- Hot oil flushing only removes “most” of the accumulation. It does not remove 100% of paraffin and asphaltene accumulations.

- Hot oil flushing is costly. The cost of the service, labor, and lost production make this an extremely expensive option.

- Paraffin and asphaltene generally accumulate at the coldest parts of the piping. When the piping is suddenly heated by the hot oil, it is subject to severe stresses caused by the expansion and contraction of the metal. Hot oil flushing can, in some cases, lower the useful life of the piping.

SolventsSolvents are the most common and most effective means of treating paraffin and asphaltene accumulations and blockages. Toluene based solvents are the most common type of solvent used today. Unfortunately, toluene is extremely

toxic, designated hazardous, and difficult to import due to increased environmental regulations.

Treatments with toluene based solvents generally require the oil to be circulated for 3-4 days to fully remove a blockage. BioFlo performs the same

task in only one day.
