The NCC Emerging Professionals program was launched in January 2010 with a primary goal to engage the newer members of the profession and help them develop as professionals. We seek to achieve this goal by creating opportunities for networking, training, design experience, and mentor ship.

Our mission is:- to identify and respond to the needs of those who are new to the profession of landscape architecture in northern California.- to energize ourselves, our profession, and our communities through design and the sharing of ideas.- to learn from the experiences of others and offer our own unique perspective.- to reach out, to welcome, and enjoy all that landscape architecture has to offer.

The program is structured around the two areas of interest that our members have identified. Hence, the Emerging Professionals group is formed by the members of the Networking/Training and those of the Pro-Bono subgroups.

Networking/Training: The role of the N/T subgroup is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and the building of professional relation-ships and skills.

The subgroup has established a Bi-monthly Events program that includes panel discussions on relevant topics, office and site visits, and social gatherings. The subgroup aims to maintain a calendar of events relevant to Emerging Professionals.

Pro-Bono: The P/B subgroup aims to provide Emerging Professionals with design experience, mentoring, and opportunities for community involvement. It hopes to increase the visibility of the profession as a whole through pro-bono projects.

The subgroup has established a working relationship with the Friends of Sausal Creeks, and hopes to help them begin implementing their Water-shed Enhancement Plan. The subgroup currently focuses on conceptual design, demonstration projects, and community education efforts.

Coordinating Committee: The coordinating committee represents the Emerging Professionals group to the public, and coordinates with the ASLA NCC Executive Committee.

Coordinating Committee members: Henry Fleischmann, general inquiries Nikos Papadopoulos, N/T subgroup George Waters, P/B subgroup Contact us: [email protected], attn: Henry Fleischmann
