WHAT IF PANGAEA NEVER BROKE APART??? Like this…

Page 2: What If..Pangea Powerpoint

First of all, dinosaurs might be hunting us right now…

Or maybe we would have them as pets…

but either way, they would be alive.

Page 3: What If..Pangea Powerpoint

Dinosaurs went extinct from a 5-mile wide asteroid that hit Mexico, which caused dirt and debris to rise into the air and block out the sun.

As you can see, if Pangaea didn’t separate, it would have hit the water and some dinosaurs would still be alive.

This is where the asteroid hit during the time of the dinosaurs.

This is where the asteroid would’ve hit if Pangaea was still a Super-ContinentThis is

because…

Anyway, even if Dinosaurs didn’t die by an asteroid, another way they could’ve died was by climate changes due to volcanic eruptions. But there would be 90% less volcanoes in the world right now. Also, the volcanoes would not be so deadly.

Pangaea drifted apart because the tectonic plates under the land moved apart due to

convection in the magma. Just to make things simpler, the magma in Earth’s core moves,

bringing the land above with it. Volcanoes form when magma seeps through cracks or boundaries in the tectonic plates in the crust of Earth making its way upward. But as you can see, there would be no cracks in the plates if they didn’t moved. The only volcanoes would be formed by hot spots.

Hot spots are formed when magma pushes its way through the middle of a tectonic plate. They create shield volcanoes which are one of the least deadliest volcanoes in the world. They have Basilic lava which is just liquidly lava. Examples of a shield volcanoes are the ones in Hawaii.

Also, we wouldn’t have any volcano archipelagos like Hawaii. Hawaii was formed by an undersea volcano. The lava from the volcano created the land of Hawaii. The island is a archipelago because while the volcano was in the middle of creating an island, it shifted away from the island because the tectonic plate below it was moving. It then created another island. Then the island got cut off again because the volcano moved away. The volcano created more and more islands this way which then became an archipelago.

But there would have been just one big volcano if it hadn’t moved from tectonic plates.

Here is an animation (it’s a bit crappy though)

Speaking of natural disasters, there would be no earthquakes nor tsunamis nor that much land slides. This is because earthquakes are created by faults in the Earth’s crust. When two tectonic plates move past each other, sometimes they can get stuck. When they finally snap apart, they produce vibrations that can be destructive.

Without tectonic plates though, earthquakes will never exist. Other disasters caused by earthquakes such as tsunamis and land slides will never happen as well. Without that much natural disasters, the population of people would probably be larger. (If we ignore the fact that the human race would've never existed since nothing happened to the dinosaurs.)

Summary

To sum things up, if Pangaea never broke up, dinosaurs would still be alive. Also, there would be a lot less volcanoes and the volcanoes left will not be so deadly. Also, volcano archipelagos like Hawaii will not exist. There will also be no earthquakes, tsunamis, nor that much land slides.
