For a traditional or Angola roda use three berimbaus (Gunga/Berra Boi, Medio/Viola, Viola/Violinha), 2 pandeiros, 1 atabaque, 1 agogo and 1 reco reco). 8. Always be aware of your surroundings while playing in the roda and maintain the shape of the roda 9. Only a teacher can stop the music in the roda 10. Always Squat at the Pe do Berimbau (entrance where the instruments are) before entering the roda. Ask permission from the leader to enter the roda 11. Shake hands whenever possible after a game with the other capoeirista. Especially when someone gets hurt in the roda. 12. Never buy out a teacher or another student in a higher level, buy the game with them until they are done playing. 13. QUESTIONS should be asked after the roda and there is no other talking to other students in the roda 14. If you are late to class stand on the side of the room and wait for acknowledgement for the instructor or assistants before entering class and say Salve Capoeira when entering the floor 15. requirement for events inside and outside of the Academy17. The teachers of schools should be addressed by their title (Graduado, Monitor,

Formado, Professor, Estagario, Contremestre, Mestrando(a), Mestre, etc). Other instructors may also be comfortable with being called by their Capoeira name only; however, you should check with that instructor what he or she prefers.

18. I prefer that you call me Gaivota. 19. You should know and address each student by their Capoeira Name 20. Never fight during demonstrations or public rodas and try to avoid sweeps. 21. You should support your group through: Demonstrations, Purchasing equipment,

Attending events, Being the best student you can be - Train hard – 100%, NO MATTER WHAT at all times.

Traditions & Etiquette If you arrive late to class. Wait at the side of the room to be acknowledged by the

teacher. Say “salve” when entering the floor. Line up in size order and cordel order when saying the saudacao. Train in class with cordels in front of the room and going first for drills.

Green Yellow Never fight or play to win during demonstrations. It is best to show Capoeira by

playing a beautiful game. You do not look good in the roda by making your partner look bad. You should support your group through: demonstrations, shows, attending events,
