Progression : A copy of Ideas Lessons 2, 3, and 4(Write

Traits Student Edition 12-23) are published onto the progression worksheet. Each student must complete one of the three lessons. All three must be completed as a group. If there are more than three members of the group, members may double-up on one lesson. Students must be prepared to share what they learned with teacher on Conference Day.

You will share the vocabulary building strategies that you wrote in your notebook for “How To Improve Your Vocabulary” You will be given the first seven pages of

“High School Graduation” (Junior Great Books 194-201) to test the strategy

You will share what they came up with and whether the strategy is one they will actually use and why.

Students will share their latest drafts of their writing piece. Students will upload their draft to the Google drive so they may share with group mates and receive feedback about their use of organizational devises on their second draft.

Reflection Many students struggled with the language

standards for Benchmark Three. Language standards are related to vocabulary, root words, affixes and vocabulary skills in general. Have you ever attempted to take an active role in your own vocabulary building? If you did, what strategies did you or your teacher use with you to strengthen this area in that were successful?
