What can you do to help your students succeed?
By: Stephanie Allen
Work with your children's teachers. Talk to every teacher your student has and see what
the expectations are, what tests will be taken, and if there
is anything you can do at home to help them get through this year and get ready for the
next year!!!
Make a certain time of the day be homework time where the children can ONLY do school work. No TV, no cell phones, etc. Make sure that they know you are there to help them with anything they need help with. Let them know they can ask you anything.
Make sure you keep open communication with them at all times. Talking to your children about anything, whether it is embarrassing, uncomfortable, or not, shows them that you are there for them. It shows them that you will listen to them in their time of need.
When parents get involved in their childrens education their children “get better grades and test scores, graduate from high school at higher rates, are more likely to go on to higher education, are better behaved and
have more positive attitudes” (ed.gov).
Thank you for taking the time to enjoy this presentation.
