About Hong Kong Wetland Park...
Hong Kong Wetland Park is a theme park which was completed in 2005. With the rapid development
of Tin Shui Wai, it is designed to compensate the omit of fish ponds, educang urban cizens the
importance of wetland in our daily living and how to protect the ecology system.

Why the building is composed of two kind of structural materials (steel & concrete)?
1 For Funcon
2 For accessibility and planng of the roof
For the whole building, only the central part is made of steel, other parts are in concrete structure. This may be related to
the funonal arrangement of the building. The central part is the atrium which welcome all the visitors. Therefore, it is needed
to be bright. Steel structure with glass can achieve this. But for other parts, mostly are the exhibion area, which too much light
will result from glare.
Another reason maybe because the architect wanted to achieve the green roof. As soil and vegetaon are heavy and needed to be
relavely more water-proofed, so concrete is a beer c hoice in this case.

Conclusion
Reference
From the above analysis, we can see that all the systems that the architect trying to use is ulmately achieving the concept. Also, all the systems are inter-related. Therefore, when we are to choose a system for the building, it is
always not only the system alone. It must be fit to the concept, and it should be well considered with all the other systems.

Rainwater will first run into the horizontal guer (2) through
the inclined surface of the roof (1). As the roof is defined as
certain rows, the rain water in each row will be gathered and
finally drained away by the largest guer placed perpendicularly
to (2). The large guer is 800mm in width.

Lighting System
As menoned before, the lighng in different zones are different so as to fit the funcon. As the buildings lighng system is mainly deal with natural light,
material is very important in controlling light. The lake in front also contribute to light reflecon.
For the central atrium, the skylight is facing north-east, which can allow the building receive daylight more than sunlight. This can avoid the building being
over-heated and to avoid glare.
Although the parts that made of concrete do not have skylight, it is lighten up by the light through the curtain wall.

From plan and elevaon, we can see that the whole building is made up of module. For the plan, the distance between columns is almost set to 9000mm.
This can ease the construcon, producon of material, as well as minimizing waste
