It was my first time outside of Korea so I was a little nervous but the College welcomed and supported me. I was impressed by the culinary techniques that I learnt from the chef lecturers as they were unlike anything I had learnt before.

The Soho Centre is located in the heart of London’s Soho and is a short walk from Oxford Circus, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus and Tottenham Court Road underground stations. It offers a wide range of English Language classes take place here, including general and vocational ESOL courses, EFL and IELTS courses. The Soho Centre is also the base for the College’s Creative Learning Lab with media training facilities for hire.

Where will I study?

Westminster Kingsway College has teaching Centres across central London. International students may study at any Westminster Kingsway College Centre.

You can travel to any of our centres via the Victoria Line on the London Underground.

The Victoria Centre is located in Westminster, a short walk from both Victoria and St James’s Park underground stations. It offers courses in the award winning School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality, which celebrated its 100 year anniversary in 2010. It also provides courses in Business, ICT and Enterprise courses as well as Higher Education and Foundation Degree courses that learners can progress to. It is also home to the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy.

With 14 kitchens, demonstration theatres, multimedia and ICT suites and an extensive Learning Resource Centre, the Victoria Centre provides excellent facilities for learners. The College’s student-run restaurant, The Vincent Rooms is also located at the Victoria Centre as well as the Professional Development Centre.

The King’s Cross Centre is in Camden, less than ten minutes walking distance from King’s Cross mainline and underground station. It offers a wide range of academic and vocational courses for 14-19 year olds, including A-Levels and BTECs. It also provides courses for adult learners including Foundation Learning for students with learning difficulties. Built in 2009, the King’s Cross Centre has first-class learning facilities, including:

Visas & Immigration

If you are travelling to the UK for the purposes of study from outside of the EU then you will need to obtain the appropriate visa to meet the immigration requirements of the United Kingdom.

As a prospective International student, immigration information can seem complex and confusing. We have a comprehensive guide to applying for visas and meeting the immigration requirements for international students on our College website www.westking.ac.uk/international with the latest information and some useful web links.

However we recommend that you always consult the UK Border Agency (UKBA) www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk website for further information. If you do not know whether you will need a visa to study in the UK, please contact your local British Embassy, British Council, British Consulate or British High Commission.

Westminster Kingsway College is a licensed Highly Trusted Sponsor (HTS) for Tier 4 (student visa) applications. If you require the College to support your visa application then the full fee for your course is payable to the College before a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance to Study) certificate can be issued. This must be paid by bank draft, credit card or by bank transfer to the College bank account. A CAS Certificate requires a separate fee. Additional proof of sufficient maintenance funds for the duration of the study period is required. No refunds can be made once a visa letter or CAS certificate has been issued.

If your visa is refused then you must send a copy of the decision letter sent to you by immigration to the International Officer at the College within 14 days and a refund minus administration costs will be made. The College does not make refunds in any other circumstances except those listed in our refunds policy. All of the courses offered by Westminster Kingsway College have been designed to help you get the most out of your educational experience. We offer a range of courses for International students looking to build your vocational skills and your academic qualifications. You can progress into further and higher level study as well as employment opportunities.

Course Timetables

The majority of our courses start in September each year and International students should apply for these courses as early as possibly to secure your place. However we also have courses starting at different times of the year for International students. Contact the International Office or visit our website for the latest start dates.

About our courses

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements for International students vary depending on the level of your course. If you have existing qualifications from a country outside the UK and you are not sure which level is right for you please contact the International Officer who will be able to help you. We can check your certificates and recommend the most appropriate level and qualification for you.

Your competence in English, spoken and written, is an important feature of your application and is normally measured by the IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge tests. Some courses will require a higher level of English. Otherwise you will have to study for a longer period in order to be of sufficient level of English to study at the College and progress to further study.

What types of courses can International students study at Westminster Kingsway College?

All of the courses offered by Westminster Kingsway College have been designed to help International students get the most out of your educational experience and to ensure that you are globally mobile throughout your career.

Vocational Skill Courses

International students can study different vocational qualifications such as BTECs, Diplomas, Foundation Diplomas and National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). All of these courses are designed to prepare you with relevant skills for your chosen subject or industry sector and also for additional study at a higher level if you choose to progress further.

What courses can I study?

A-Levels

A-Level courses run over two years and are suitable for International students aged 16 and over. In the first year, International students will select a programme of 3 or 4 AS Level courses. After completing AS Level courses in the first year, International students can choose to continue with the same AS subjects in the second year to complete the full A-Level (A2) qualification. You will be studying with UK students on these courses.

Academic and Vocational Strengths at Westminster Kingsway College We are extremely proud of our teaching staff. With extensive industry experience in their area of learning as well as many being examiners or moderators for the National examination boards, they are on hand to help you learn everything you need to know to achieve your qualification. Access to Higher Education Diplomas

The Access to Higher Education Diplomas are the same level as an International Foundation Programme. These courses give you the opportunity to prepare yourself for a degree course in the UK. You will be able to develop subject knowledge, English Language skills and the study skills you will need to progress onto a degree programme. Westminster Kingsway College is one of the biggest providers of these courses in London.

Undergraduate Courses BA Degrees and Foundation Degrees

The College offers a range of Undergraduate degrees in vocational subjects that are ideal for International students. Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements for International students vary depending on the level of your course. If you have existing qualifications from a country outside the UK and you are not sure which level is right for you please contact the International Officer who will be able to help you. We can check your certificates and recommend the most appropriate level and qualification for you.

Your competence in English, spoken and written, is an important feature of your application and is normally measured by the IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge tests. Visit www.westking.ac.uk/international for the latest entry requirements. Apply for your course

We will help you with the application process at Westminster Kingsway College and ensure that you apply for the best course to suit your skills and abilities. If you are applying for one of our Culinary Arts or Hospitality courses, a BTEC Diploma, an Access course, a Foundation Degree, Degree or Postgraduate Diploma, then you should also include a relevant job reference and a personal statement of 200 words describing your work experience and explaining why you want to take the course.

Our International Officer will be able to advise you of the visa required for your chosen course at Westminster Kingsway College. The College is a Highly Trusted Sponsor with the UK Border Agency and we can provide you with information and advice in relation to your course. If you require the College to support your visa application then the full fee for your course is payable to the College before a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance to Study) certificate can be issued.

Please ensure that you contact the International Officer at Westminster Kingsway College to find out the deadline for applications for your chosen course to ensure that your application can be processed in time for you to obtain a visa.


2 Receive confirmation/Interview dates/ Course offer

Once you have applied to Westminster Kingsway College, you will receivea confirmation from the International Officer that we have received your application form.

For courses at all levels, the College may accept you unconditionally; this will mean that you have shown yourself - on your application form - to be capable of benefiting from the course and of completing it successfully. The College may also respond to your application by making you a conditional offer. This may mean that you must first complete your current course and/or that you must first obtain certification of your English Language competence. You may also need to complete an interview with us either over the telephone or via the Internet through SkypeTM.

3 Payment of your course fees/Applications for visas for the UK

If you are successful at the interview and application stage you will be offered a place at the College subject to the payment of your course fees and any other relevant entry criteria including visa regulations. Please contact the International Officer or visit www.westking.ac.uk/international for information about course fees and visa regulations for studying in the UK.



4 Receive an enrolment date

Once you have been successfully accepted onto a course with Westminster Kingsway College and you have met your visa requirements then the International Officer will contact you with dates for your enrolment, information about airport collections and your timetable at the College. You will need to enrol at the College to receive your Student ID card and sign your Learner Agreement. It is very important to attend the enrolment date that you have been given. 5 Start your course When you have completed your application and enrolment then you will start your course at Westminster Kingsway College. We will introduce you to your course tutor and to other International and UK students at the College. You can also start to explore London and the UK.


International Course FeesInternational Course Fees

Please visit www.westking.ac.uk/international for the latest course fees for International students. You can also contact the International Office for details of course fees. The fees that you pay will depend on the course to which you apply. Please note that in addition to course fees you may also need to pay the following:

› Examination fees if your course includes a final examination at the end of the course;

› Resources fees for any additional resources that you require for your course (Hospitality and Culinary Arts courses will have a higher resource fee due to the equipment requirements for these courses);

› College Identity Card fee which will give you access to College facilities and use of the Learning Resource Centres.

Courses longer than one year

Any course fee information that you receive, which relates to a course of two, three or four years’ duration, will be for the first year only (Please note: this applies to all courses except our Postgraduate Diploma courses). If you are applying for a course that is longer than one year then you must take into account the fact that course fees may rise by 5-10% over subsequent years of your course. Please bear this in mind if you have to pay fees and are applying for a course of more than one year in length.

Each year’s course fees are payable in advance of the start of your course.

Refunds Westminster Kingsway College has a 'no refunds' policy, however, refunds may be considered if specific circumstances have been met. Please email [email protected] for full details of the College’s refund policy for International students.

Please note: Westminster Kingsway College aims to provide the widest possible range of courses for international students. On occasion it is necessary to withdraw or move courses owing to a variety of unforeseen circumstances. The College cannot therefore guarantee the provision of all courses advertised in this guide. Where a course is cancelled or amended in any way to that advertised, the College will make every effort to transfer International students to an alternative course, should one exist that is appropriate and available. Please note that fees may change at short notice due to circumstances beyond our control.
