July 4 Rallysprint
Our Feature Photographer Michael Quinlan was present to shoot the fun.
You can find out more info about Quinno’s Quick Snaps on Page 19
The July 4 Rallysprint had plenty of WAC officials coming out to lend a
hand. It was a great turnout and this ultimately helped the event run
smoothly throughout – THANKYOU to all who attended!
With John Newton and Chris Giddins working hard to obtain our Sport
and Rec Licence renewal just in time, Gadget repairing some machinery
for track prep, our awesome canteen crew cooking up some great menu
ideas and a hardworking team tirelessly prepping throughout the week to
ensure our track was in tip top shape – The event was off to a great start
before it even began!

July 19 Khanacross
Special thanks to the MGCC Officials who came to assess our WAC
Officials so they can gain their upgraded licences for the Australian
Khanacross Championship in September!
(see Page 13 for more details on the AKC15)
The July 19 Khanacross was a fantastic event with 40 entries in total. Not
only was the track in fair condition considering the recent weather – but
we also had our own water splash stage! Quinno’s Quick Snaps was there
to capture the action and you’ll see a few photos from Quinno below. He
managed to capture quite a few entrants on off road expeditions
too…there definitely was something special about that corner!

With the weather warming up, 31 brave drivers descended on AwabaWAC Park to test their skills in the
dirt.
After the following tasks were performed:
* course set up - thanks to Dave Anderson, Darren Green, Steve O'Brien and others,
* administrative requirements addressed - thanks to John Williamson,
* event formalities, such as drivers briefing - thanks to Dave Anderson;
The drivers took to their vehicles to attempt the Accordion, Fleur de Lis and Bowler under the watchful eyes
of timers, Leon Swan, William Swan, Darren Green, Isiah Bower (Kajsha Giddins boyfriend), Brent
Blackwell plus one other keen WAC supporter. The Accordion proved to be the most challenging but the
wind also did it's bit, blowing up dust and knocking flags over in the process.
After stopping for lunch, thanks to Kathy, Amanda, Mark and Anthony Russell, the tests were reset and
Square Slalom, Trefoil and Star were attempted.
There was a strong contingency of Ladies and Juniors (congratulations to those who entered) and two
thirds of the field competed in Class C - Production Vehicles with a wheelbase between 2391 to 2574mm.
The competition was tight at the top with the Specials (buggies) filling the placing's. Granger and Granger
took out first and second places in their little Mozzie with 0.9 seconds separating the two and only 2.89
seconds to the Evan Van Leeuwen CAMDAK in third. David Wykes Suzuki T3 performed well but I'm pretty
sure there are the drivers of one Special that had some explaining to do when they got home.
I think it was a first for me to see one vehicle run so many times at one event. The Hyundai Excel of Jason
Giddins' backing up four times each test. It was good to see so many new faces competing and a few
spectators questioning officials about what was required to run at an event. Another first for me was
seeing a Hillman Minx attack the tests with music blaring, and not to be outdone, certain individuals
singing Happy Birthday out the window at the top of their lungs. Great to see the levels of enjoyment
reaching new heights.
A final big thank you to all the officials and those who stayed back to clean up the kitchen (Kathy), pack up
the tests and clean up the Park, your help is much appreciated.
I hope to see you all at the next event and may the fun continue.

Hope you all had a good day, the weather was great, the track in great condition,
and lots of great people were there to have their last practice for the AKC event.
A couple of competitors found their limit, and then went past it in the morning, and
a few machines were broken – hopefully ironing out the bugs in time for the AKC.
The afternoon session ran smoothly with no incidents to report.
Thank you to all officials who attended, without you we could not run the event.

Become an Official
WAC is always looking for more Officials to help run our club
events.
No experience necessary – we’ll show you exactly what to do!
If you’d like to help out but do not have a CAMS Official
licence there are always plenty of jobs you can help with
leading up to the event and on the day of the event.
Alternatively, visit the CAMS Website and download a
CAMS Officials Trainee Licence form. Bring it along on
event day - we’ll put you to work with an experienced
official and sign your form at the end of the day so you
can send it in to CAMS. Once CAMS receives your signed
form, you can then complete an online module called
“Introduction to CAMS Officiating”.
When you finish that - your new Officials Licence will be
sent to you in the mail. Easy as that!
Contact the WAC Secretary (John Newton) for more
information on how you can help your club

Out!
There is always plenty to do at AwabaWAC Park! We regularly hold
working bees in the days and weeks coming up to events we are hosting.
From mowing and whipper snippering to cleaning and track preparations,
there is more than enough work to go around, so all help in any way is
greatly appreciated.
Keep an eye on your email. A club email will be sent to
all members giving the details of the next working bee
and any particular repairs or work that might be
required. We also publish dates on our Club Calendar.
*Free entry to Motorkhana/Khanacross only
Help maintain your car club’s
grounds and you can earn
yourself a FREE* entry!
To show our appreciation for
member contributions, WAC will
offer a FREE entry to a Motorkhana
or Khanacross OR $50 off a
Rallysprint entry to any member
who participates in 3 working bees.
