Correct use

This appliance is not intended for use bypersons (including children) with reducedphysical, sensory or mental capabilities, orlack of experience and knowledge, unlessthey have been given supervision or in-struction concerning use of the applianceby a person responsible for their safety.

This appliance should be used only fornormal domestic cooking and frying offood.

General Safety

The appliance may only be installed andconnected by a qualified electrician.

Built-in appliances may only be used afterthey have been built into suitable built-inunits and work surfaces that meet stand-ards.

In the event of faults with the appliance ordamage to the glass ceramic (cracks,

scratches or splits), the appliance must beswitched off and disconnected from theelectrical supply, to prevent the possibilityof an electric shock.

Repairs to the appliance must only be car-ried out by trained registered service engi-neers.

This appliance is not intended to be oper-ated by means of an external timer or sep-arate remote control system.

Safety during use Remove stickers and film from the glass

ceramic. There is the risk of burns from the appli-

ance if used carelessly. Cables from electrical appliances must not

touch the hot surface of the appliance orhot cookware.

Overheated fats and oils can ignite veryquickly. Warning! Fire hazard!

Switch the cooking zones off after eachuse, do not rely on the pan detector.

Users with implanted pacemakers shouldkeep their upper body at least 30 cm frominduction cooking zones that are switchedon.

Safety when cleaning

For cleaning, the appliance must beswitched off and cooled down. For safety reasons, the cleaning of the ap-

pliance with steam jet or high pressurecleaning equipment is not permitted.

How to avoid damage to the appliance

The glass ceramic can be damaged byobjects falling onto it.

The edge of the glass ceramic can bedamaged by being knocked by the cook-

ware.

Cookware made of cast iron, cast alumi-nium or with damaged bottoms canscratch the glass ceramic if pushed acrossthe surface.

Spillage from cookware can burn onto theglass ceramic and should be removed

straight away. Do not use the cooking zones with empty

cookware or without cookware. To avoid damaging cookware and glass

ceramics, do not allow saucepans or fryingpans to boil dry.

The Ventilation gap of 5 mm between theworktop and front of the unit underneath itmust not be covered.

Touch Control sensor fields

The appliance is operated using Touch Con-trol sensor fields. Functions are controlled by

touching sensor fields and confirmed by dis-

plays and acoustic signals. Only touch thesensor fields which activate a desired func-tion. Do not cover other sensor fields.

If the control bar is touched for longerthan 6 seconds, a signal sounds and theappliance switches itself off.

Residual heat can be used for meltingand keeping food warm.

The induction cooking zones create theheat required for cooking directly in the baseof the cookware. The glass ceramic is merelyheated by the residual heat of the cookware.

Operating the appliance

Using the automatic warm-up function

All cooking zones are equipped with an au-tomatic warm-up function. The automatic

warm-up function sets the cooking zone tothe highest setting for a certain period of timeand then automatically switches back to thecooking setting that was originally set.

Locking/unlocking the control panel

The control panel, with the exception of theOn/Off sensor field, can be locked at any

time in order to prevent the settings beingchanged e.g. by wiping over the panel with a

cloth.

to the boil. The power function is activatedfor 5-8 minutes. After this time, the inductioncooking zones automatically return to cook-

ing level .

If the power function has ended, thecooking zones automatically switchback to the heat setting set previously.

Power Management

The cooking zones of the cooking surfacehave a maximum power.The maximum power is reached when theheat setting 9 has been set for all cookingzones. Two cooking zones generate a pair(see figure) and therefore, the power man-

agement shares the maximum availablepower between these cooking zones.When the power function is selected for onecooking zone, the power managementmakes the additional power for this cookingzone available by reducing the power of thecorresponding other cooking zone.Example: the heat setting 9 is selected onone cooking zone. The power function isswitched on for the corresponding cookingzone. The power function is carried out but

the heat setting 9 of one of the cooking zonesand the power function for the other cookingzone of the pair exceed the maximum powerfor both at the same time. For this purpose,the power management reduces the powerof the cooking zone that switched on firstfrom 9 to example 5 and the display of thiscooking zone changes between 9 and 5 andthen stays at the current possible maximum5. (If the display changes between 9 and 5 or

9 and 3 or another value depends on the typeof appliance and the size of the cookingzone.).

Using the timer

All cooking zones can use one of the twotimer functions at the same time.

If other timer functions are set, after afew seconds the shortest remaining timeof all the timer functions is displayed andthe corresponding pilot light flashes.

If after switching on the cooking surface, aheat setting is not set for a cooking zonewithin approx. 10 seconds, the cookingsurface automatically switches itself off.

If one or more sensor fields are covered by

objects (a pan, cloths, etc.) for longer thanapprox. 10 seconds, a signal sounds andthe cooking surface switches off automat-ically.

If all cooking zones are switched off, thecooking surface automatically switches it-self off after approx. 10 seconds.

Control panel

When the appliance is switched off, if one ormore of the sensor fields on the control panel

are covered for more that 10 seconds, anacoustic signal sounds. The acoustic signal

switches itself off automatically when thesensor fields are no longer covered.

Induction cooking zones

In the event of overheating (e.g. when apan boils dry) the cooking zone automati-

cally switches itself off. is displayed. Be-fore being used again, the cooking zone

must be set to 0 and allowed to cool down. If cookware that is not suitable is used,

lights up in the display and after 2 mi-nutes the indicator for the cooking zoneswitches itself off.

If one of the cooking zones is not switchedoff after a certain time, or if the heat settingis not modified, the relevant cooking zone

switches off automatically. is displayed.Before being used again, the cooking zone

must be set to 0.

Tips on cooking and frying

Information about acrylamidesAccording to the latest scientific re-search, intensive browning of food, es-pecially in products containing starch,

may present a health risk due to acryla-mide. Therefore we recommend cook-ing at low temperatures and not brown-ing foods too much.

Cleaning and care

Warning! Sharp objects and abrasivecleaning agents can damage theappliance by scratching the glasssurface, which may result in shattering ofglass. Clean the appliance and removethe residues with water and washing up

liquid after each use. Remove alsoremnants of cleaning agents!

Scratches or dark stains on the glassceramic that cannot be removed do notaffect the functioning of the appliance.

Cleaning the appliance after each use1. Food containing sugar, plastics, tin foil

residues should be removed at once us-ing a scraper. Place a scraper on theglass ceramic surface at an angle and re-move residues by sliding the blade over

the surface. Wipe the appliance with adamp cloth and a little washing up liquid.Finally, rub the appliance dry using aclean cloth .

2. Limescale rings, water rings, fatsplashes, shiny metallic discolorations

should be removed after the appliancehas cooled down using cleaner for glassceramic or stainless steel.

Warning! Do not use a steam cleaner toclean this appliance.

Follow connection schematic. Observe electrical safety rules. Ensure anti-shock protection by installing

correctly. The appliance must be connected to the

electrical supply by a qualified electrician. Loose and inappropriate plug and socket

connections can make the terminal over-heat.

Have the clamping connections correctlyinstalled by a qualified electrician.

Use strain relief clamp on cable. A ventilation gap of 5 mm underneath the

cooktop must be left.

Caution!The surface temperatureexceeds 95C. To avoid a hazard,underbench access must be restric-ted

Electrical ConnectionBefore connecting, check that the nominalvoltage of the appliance, that is the voltagestated on the rating plate, corresponds to theavailable supply voltage. Also check thepower rating of the appliance and ensure thatthe wire is suitably sized in accordance withlocal wiring rules to suit the appliance powerrating. The rating plate is located on the lowercasing of the hob. The heating element volt-

age is AC230V~. The appliance also worksperfectly on networks with AC220V~ orAC240V~. Means for disconnection must beincorporated in the fixed wiring in accord-ance with local wiring rules.The hob is to beconnected to the mains using a device thatallows the appliance to be disconnectedfrom the mains at all poles with a contact

opening width of at least 3 mm, eg. auto-matic line protecting cut-out, earth leakagetrips or fuse. If this appliances mains cableis damaged, it must be replaced by a specialcable (type H05BB-F Tmax 90C; or higher).The latter is available from the Customer

Care Department. The connection must becarried out as shown in the diagram. Theconnecting links should be fitted accordingto the connection diagram sticker on theback of the appliance. Note for single phaseconnection the link supplied in the terminalbox needs to be fitted between terminals 1and 2. The earth lead is connected to termi-

nal . The earth lead must be longer thanleads carrying electric current. The cableconnections must be made in accord-ance with regulations and the terminalscrews tightened securely. Finally, theconnecting cable is to be secured with themains cable cleat and the covering closed bypressing firmly (lock into place). Beforeswitching on for the first time, any protectivefoil or stickers must be removed from theglass ceramic surface.

Warning!Once connected to themains supply check that all cookingzones are ready for use by brieflyswitching each on in turn at themaximum setting. A duplicate rating label is supplied

with this unit. For easy identification ofthis unit after installation, stick it to areadily available surface adjacent tothe cooktop.

Sticking on the seal

Clean the worktop around the cutout area. Stick the single-sided adhesive sealingtape provided on the underside of the hobaround the outside edge ensuring that it isnot stretched. The two ends of the tapeshould join in the middle of one side. Aftertrimming the tape (allow it to overlap by 2-3mm), press the two ends together.

'you' means the purchaser of the Ap-pliance not having purchased the ap-pliance for re-sale, and 'your' has acorresponding meaning.

2. This warranty only applies to Appliancespurchased and used in Australia or NewZealand and is in addition to (and doesnot exclude, restrict, or modify in anyway) any non-excludable statutory war-ranties in Australia or New Zealand.

3. Electrolux warrants that, when dispatch-ed from an Electrolux warehouse, theAppliance is free from defects in materi-als and workmanship for the WarrantyPeriod.

4. During the Warranty Period Electrolux orits Authorised Service Centre will, at noextra charge if your appliance is readilyaccessible without special equipment,

and subject to these terms and condi-tions, repair or replace any parts which itconsiders to be defective. You agree thatany replaced Appliances or parts be-come the property of Electrolux. Thiswarranty does not apply to light globes,batteries, filters or similar perishableparts.

5. Parts and Appliances not supplied byElectrolux are not covered by this war-ranty.

6. Where you are within an Electrolux serv-ice area, this warranty covers the cost oftransport of the Appliance to and fromAuthorised Service Centres of Electrolux

and travelling costs for representatives ofthe Authorised Service Centre to andfrom your home or business. If you areoutside an Electrolux service area, youwill bear these costs. For informationabout whether you are within an Electro-

lux service area, please phone 13 13 49in Australia, or 0800 10 66 10 in NewZealand.

7. Proof of purchase is required before youcan make a claim under this warranty.

8. You may not make a claim under thiswarranty unless the defect claimed isdue to faulty or defective parts or work-manship. Electrolux is not liable in thefollowing situations (which are not ex-haustive): The Appliance is damaged by

i) accidentii) misuse or abuse, including failure toproperly maintain or serviceiii) normal wear and teariv) power surges, electrical stormdamage or incorrect power supplyv) incomplete or improper installationvi) incorrect, improper or inappropriateoperation

vii) insect or vermin infestation. The Appliance is modified without au-thority from Electrolux in writing.

The Appliance's serial number or war-ranty seal has been removed or de-faced.

The Appliance was serviced or re-paired by anyone other than Electroluxor its Authorised Service Centres.

9. This warranty, the contract to which itrelates and the relationship between you

and Electrolux are governed by the lawapplicable in the Australian State wherethe Appliance was purchased or the lawapplicable in New Zealand if the Appli-ance was purchased in New Zealand.Where the Appliance was purchased inNew Zealand for business purposes theConsumer Guarantee Act does not ap-ply.Limitation of Liability

10. To the extent permitted by law:

Electrolux excludes all warranties oth-er than as contained in this document;

Electrolux shall not be liable for anyloss or damage whether direct or in-direct or consequential arising fromyour purchase, use or non-use of the

Appliance.11. Provisions of the Trade Practices Act

and State consumer legislation in Aus-tralia, and the Consumer GuaranteesAct, the Sale of Goods Act and the FairTrading Act in New Zealand, imply war-ranties or conditions, or impose obliga-tions, upon Electrolux which cannot beexcluded, restricted or modified. To theextent permitted by law, the liability ofElectrolux (if any) arising out of or in re-lation to the Appliance or any servicessupplied by Electrolux shall be limited(where it is fair and reasonable to do so),: in the case of Appliances, at its option,

to the replacement or repair of the Ap-pliances or the supply of equivalentproducts or the payment of the cost ofreplacing the Appliances or having theAppliances repaired or of acquiringequivalent Appliances. Upon being re-

placed, parts and Appliances becomethe property of Electrolux; or in the case of services, at its option, to

the supply of the services again or thepayment of the cost of having theservices re-supplied;

and in the case of Appliances or servicessupplied in New Zealand, loss or dam-age whether direct or indirect or conse-quential that is reasonably foreseeable.

Privacy

You acknowledge that in the event that youmake a warranty claim it will be necessary forElectrolux and its Authorised Service Centresto exchange information in relation to you toenable Electrolux to meet its obligations un-der this warranty.Important NoticeBefore Calling a Service Technician pleasecheck carefully the operating instructions,service booklet and the warranty terms and
